Yesterday it was cold with bare ground.

Woke this morning to 4.5" Inches of Lake Effect snow.

It will make those deers easier to see and good tracking snow.

There goes the open water trapping as most all still water is now frozen.

Snowing as I type. 2-3" on the ground already. 1st week of November is too early for snow/winter. With the future forecast of cold temps and more snow, it looks like it may be here for the duration. Last year on the 2nd Saturday of November, we woke up to 9" of new snow. Ponds are frozen over and creeks are slowing down.and tightening up. Not good for trapping.

Global Cooling.

A Mini Ice Age is upon us.

Like We had in the mid to late 1970's.

We're doomed !!

Unless, of course, the Fur Boom

of the same time frame returns. laugh

Pulled my traps on Thursday night. All my ponds we're froze. Despite ten beaver, paddling a bloody canoe three miles though over 1/2" of ice got old quick. Next person who says anything about global warming is getting punched in the mouth

We had a low in the mid 20's last p.m., but yesterday a.m. it was in the teens. North of here in the Au Sable River valley it was minus 4 night before last. All the staging Sandhill Cranes around here are having to roost on ice rather than stand in water. Keeps this up and they will vamoose.

Its a normal winter like back in the 70's.It was common back then to see 20 below the first of Nov. Seen a skidoo in town today.Got about 3 inches of snow on the ground now and more coming.
I pulled all my traps and put away the 4 wheeler until it gets a bit colder, and the running water freezes for better access with the snowmachine.

You're doing it wrong, Hutchy.

Canadian Master Trapper BOCO would have gunned his Bombadier Sno-go across

that 1/2" of Georgian Bay skim ice and snatched out those 10 trapped beaver as he was

speeding by while drinking a thirsty beaver adult beverage.

Work smarter, not harder as he would say, Eh ? laugh

I figured Hutchy would have been out trapping in his spandex speedo longjohns on his waverunner.

C'mon boco, you know I only use the waverunner for scouting, and the spandex speedo long johns are for special occasions only!
