I have the catch all and the death ray depends on release or dispatch

Ketch - All all the way. Unless you lose it you will never need another.
Plus there made right here in Sunny Liberal anti - trapping California!

I never got along with my Death Ray. Still have it just don't use it.
Nice piece of equipment. Maybe I should give it another try.

Ketch-all
I have a 4 foot (everyday use)
A 4-6 extendable for long reach
And a 40" ? Baton style for tight spots

Very durable , last a long time , parts are available like noose, ball bearings in swivel head , bite guard and other parts as some things with heavy use will wear out.

I never cared for the catch all poles. One of those cheap 4' hog poles worked as good if not better and It only costs you around $30.00 while a Catch All will run you $100.00 +. And If you want to put on new cable the cheap pole Is easier to make that replacement.

I have an old graphite golf club shaft with an old shared strung through it. Works just fine for all I need and total cost is nothing. My kind of price.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Made mine out of 1"pvc pipe and 1/4" plastic coated cable for less than $10. On my 3rd year with it and other than replacing the cable once die to the cold breaking the plastic coating, am very pleased with it.

Get the locking system and then the one twist and release. This allows for up to two hands to work with the trap if needed. I also like the one with plastic over the cable if chewing is a concern. Mine goes with me every where when I am trapping. I have had mine for 15 years and it cost me $99 back then but that is now down to about 6-7 dollars per year so that is not so bad.

One point I missed and is worth thinking about.
The Ketch-all is also designed to be a weapon if needed. It is built very stout. Animal control officers use them daily. Not that I am promoting using this as a weapon , more of a defensive device. Again , as a defensive device. Animal control officers sometimes are called to deal with a large dangerous dog or other animal. I know a former ACO who has a silicone implant in his calf due to a dog taking a chunk out of him.

Yes , this is true , they are designed to be used as a weapon at last resort. Some animals may need to be defended against. This is a tool. To protect you and the animal you catch.

Just sayin.......

For dispatch the death Ray is the only way to go. If releasing a catch all is easier to use. That being said I let loose a plenty of cats with the death Ray every yr. Anything is better than a limb with a y at the end that is what I started releasing cats with.

Those $30.00 hog catchers are built like tanks. You can pick up a coyote right off the ground and stick It In cage with no problem. The rod and lock system Is fool proof. Mine Is over 20 years old and I only replaced the cable once. And that catcher has handled 1000s of critters.
