I have seen some methods on here on taking rats under and through the ice. How about some pictures and explanations? Primarily with a 160 body grip.

Whats with the freezing conditions here in Mid-Michigan I'm looking at ratting through the ice.
Or go ice fishing! Which I can do later.

You can looking for the bubbles under the ice to find where there dens and runs. while the ice is still clear. then just put your trap there .

160s work great. If you can't feel the run, a potato slice or orange peel on the trigger will take them as long as you are on the bubbles.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I use a 110 setup with potato chunks on the triggers. The 2 lath setup allows for easy adjustments to put it under the bottom of the ice, in deep water you can use a cross stick at the top to keep it from falling in the hole. Check every 4-5 days for better results if allowed.
Interesting.

I like to use grapefruit or orange peels. They keep there color unlike potatoes that turn brown right away. A trick I use Is to just zip tie one of the BGs jaws to your lath. Since your using baited sets under water you don't need much adjustment since your just under water and right In the bubble run with the trap. Another trick when checking under Ice sets Is to run 2 wires down the stake. Strip off some of the insulation and wrap the 2 wire ends across the trap jaws. So when then trap Is sprung the wires come apart and the circuit Is broken. On the top end you just use a continuity device to see If the circuit has been broken.

That's true LOL
I suspended a few colony traps In bubble runs and caught a few rats but It's a lot of work for what you get. 2 traps side by side worked pretty good well lets say they caught a few rats. The chain saw Is your best friend. But I still suck at It LOl

I like to use grapefruit or orange peels. They keep there color unlike potatoes that turn brown right away. I think lemon juice is what some use to preserve potato or apple chunks.
