If you've ordered from Wayne Derrick recently you may have received a small jar or 2 of his new lures, "BullsEye" and/or "Boot Hill". When I opened them and smelled them, it was pretty obvious to me that “BullsEye” was going to be a good cat lure, and it just so happened I had a farm that I was wanting to hang a camera on and see if any cats were around, so I thought “What the heck, I will hang a camera and see if I can get some footage for my ole buddy Wayne”. And sure enough I did. I have only started experimenting with lure testing under cameras this past year and a half, this was by FAR the most intense reactions I have gotten to date.
So I called Wayne, we talked about it, I told him that with his permission I wanted to put all these clips together and share them with the trapping community and hopefully help a great friend sell a few more bottles of lure. He gave his permission and here it is.
The things that impressed me the most was the amount of time the cats spent at the rock and how the lure reacted after we had a pretty good amount of rain. When I am testing a lure, I prefer to use a rock or stump, I want the targets to be able to get at it, because sometimes you might think you have a rub lure, and they pee on it, or you may think you have a curiosity lure, and they eat it. A guy might think he knows what it is, but the critters never lie, better safe than sorry imo. I’d say it’s safe to say “BullsEye” is a rub lure.
I hope you all enjoy, Wayne is a great man and he makes some mighty fine smells. This is not his only successful lure, just his most recent
P.S. I may have got me a few more jars before I posted this just to be safe and make sure I can make it through my season
I've got pictures of a lion spending over 5 minutes stepping over my trap while sticking his nose in a hole with one of Waynes lures, Yeah I know how'd you miss? Not enough traps! With the small traps we must use I will usually set 3-4 traps,Pancho was not happy!
If I had been actually setting traps Danny, I would of fur sure hung an enticer up, BUT when I am testing lures, I am not opposed to getting coyote footage as well and in my experience, some coyotes don't mind flagging, but it takes most coyotes several nights to get used to the flags. I only had a few weeks to run this camera, so I thought it would be best to run the test with no flagging.
I did have two coyotes come in to this set up, but you can see the way the coyote in the front is acting all nervy?
He seen my blinking red light on my camera, this has happened to me a few times, I put a piece of black tape over it and put it out behind my house to test if that will help. Anyway, I bleive "BulsEye" will induce a rubbing reaction from coyotes as well, but unfortunately I kind of dropped the ball when I put the camera at their eye level. That was my fault, not the fault of the lure.
My cubby making days are past, I have tried and failed in that venture lol

Which lure Tom?
Pecos Valley was my #1 go to lure on cat locations, but after capturing this video, gonna be hard not to grab bullseye 1st.......better be safe and use them both in conjunction
Rocky Mountain Call, the landowner has pictures of three different lions which is a double edge sword my bobcat catch suffers, found a couple bcats buried by a mama cat one year. This is a special locations just made for lions and everything else, I like the money but catching a lion is priceless especially in a trap I helped with , when I pick up one of Waynes lures I can see him smiling. It's a good time to be a trapper!
Darn cool vid Michael , thanks for sharing. I believe Wayne’s products are successful is because first and foremost the man is a trapper. He’s forgot more than a pile of us will ever know.

Well put Barry!
YOU CAN IGNORE REALITY, BUT YOU CANNOT IGNORE THE CONSEQUENCES OF IGNORING REALITY.
I ordered some Bullseye this morning. The only way you can go wrong with Wayne's lures is not having them. Wayne is an extremely talented lure maker and a great guy also.
Derrick fan here, all day every day. 1080 on a bait stick, or my favorite a staked down back beaver foot. White Horse Mesa beside some cat gland in a hole or on a flat set. You cant go wrong with his coyote urine and gland either. 001 is a food lure that cats in my area like also.
"Common sense is always the least common of sense."
i just started using his lures this year and i really like them. Wayne Derrick lures are about like a good pocket knife you just dont leave home without them. 001 and 1080 are replacing a lot of my baits for dirt holes. boot hill has already pulled for coyotes for me in 6 days of having it out. good stuff
TM folks burning it up? I just tried to call you and then saw this. Would you set me aside a 4 oz. jar of the Bullseye before the hoarders buy you out?
Wayne sent me a little bottle of this stuff to test this summer and I had the same experience MM did with it. Had the same experience with coyotes too.
If Wayne makes it, you can catch critters with it.
