November 3, 2019 crop harvest, maturity and condition status for several crops and comparisons for 2018 and the 2014-2019 average.

No prices or impacts as of yet, but the late harvest and the lower maturity will add significant drying costs and possible harvest losses as the crops stand longer into the winter.

Heard on the farm report that some dryers are reducing or eliminating drying cost to farmers because of the amount of wet crop out there. And propane prices are going up.

Yes propane costs will go up with increased demand due to much colder weather in October and November and a very wet crop yet to be dried. Many dryer firms may have a lot of propane on hand as they have dried very little corn up here as the corn is in the field yet. They may be maintaining a lower cost due to the fact they have propane on hand. We don't know yet how much more propane it will take to dry the 2019 crop and guesses are all over the board as of yet. Those that have December contracts to fill will be facing some issues with when to harvest and dry their crop. We have a significant shortage of good and average quality dry hay in our area and some may use more corn in the ration this year to feed livestock. The corn market has lost another 5-10 cents recently even in spite of all the issues. Corn is cheap when compared to $200 plus hay if your ration can utilize the feed.
