A friend of mine bought an older lake cabin and garage that came with a lot of stuff. This was a trinket that was included. I'm wondering how old do you think is "homemade" little saw is? I was looking at the bolt heads and washers and they look old. Then again, hardware can sit around for decades and never be used. The blade length is about 9 inches, handle about 9 inches, overall length about 16 1/2 inches.

When you bought ice for the box sometimes the blocks were too big so these saws were quite common they were used to " domesticate" to blocks to fit.
Beside the bourbon had to be chilled

my dad had a similar saw, the blade tapered to a point and had a pistol grip I always thought it was devised for cutting holes in wood sheeting when electricity became available kinda the original drywall saw before drywall maybe yours had a longer handle put on to trim trees at one time

Jeff. that would have been a "keyhole saw" for cutting the opening for the old box locks that used skeleton keys. I last used mine about 1980. I think that "home made" is adapted from a broken key hole saw so, probably at least 40 years old.

I believe slot head machine screws and square nuts had pretty much lost their popularity by 1960, or so. I bet that thing is at least 60 years old.

The saw is 77 years, 6 months and 14 days old.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.
