With thoughts of parttime trapping opportunities in the lower 48 (I live in Alaska) I,m wondering what opportunities exist on National grasslands. The wife has a son and grands in Hobbs, NM and I see a good chunk of grassland in the NM, Ok, Ks, Co. area. I know.......no trapping in Co.
Retirement is coming with most trapping season being here in Ak.

I've never trapped national grasslands, but they are basically national forest with very small trees!
That said, NM has tons of trapping opportunity on public land. National Forest and Grassland, State Rust, and tons of BLM. Pretty much all of it is open to trap.
PM me if you want to chat about NM!

n.m. and ks. are both good. you will need to knock on doors here and get permission. not a lot of public ground. if you do trap public ground do us all a favor and don't bait 220's. lot of bird hunters in this state

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Not likely to be using conis. I'll save them for the critters here in Alaska. Wife wants time around grand kids and would like to spend time around there. Wherever I am, if trapping season is open, I'll be wanting to trap.

theres a large chunk of national grasslands here in central south dakota. it is prime trapping ground for coyotes and badger, and since no one here really traps, youd pretty much be the only one trapping on 175,000 acres. lots of legal trails that go through them, lots of prime locations. if i could check every morning at dawn id do it myself, but with my schedule i cant and i worry about getting coyotes vaporized with 300 win mags and theft.
