Good going on the townfox sonny. We have the same “problem” here this year. There was even two that would scratch around my freezers and sit on the steps. There was 2. Ill reset for the other one tonight when everyone is sleeping. I have a few traps set around the edge of town too. Getting 3-4 a day. Glad I’m catching after 2 years of leaving fox alone

Sometimes I wire a bait to the tree and set my trap further back than normal. He pulls and forgets to watch where he’s stepping I guess. A second trap set blind can also do the trick. Sometimes I leave the main trap exposed and cover the second which is the one that will get him as he sees the exposed trap.

Unusual set. I call it my front yard set. Check it through the window. Best to set this one at 2am and leave it unset all day after pulling the fox out around 6-7 am.

Ryan,
That is GREAT!
Adapt to the conditions at hand!
Pete Thanks. So goes the life of the town fox trapper. I’ve caught a bunch using “town” bait like empty pizza boxes, chip bags and pop cans too.

Nice! You catching them all in foot holds? Had a buddy up by Dead Horse that used boxes and 330's, nailed a lot of Arctic fox. Hope you make that 200 mark!

Arctic fox sell very well at the Fur Rendezvous fur auctions in Anchorage in February and March.

Use rope for setters for the conibears. I'm sure it's on youtube. I haven't found my setters yet either, set to 330's for otter with rope yesterday.

Sonny ,I really like that pic with you and the fox through the pickup window ! It's "dudical " (that was a word my 10 yr old son made up for anything he thought was really good .)

HFT I have Connie’s and footholds out across 20+ Miles of road. And I just got done with a brand new wolverine box so maybe I’ll set it out there somewhere. All my Connie’s that I got out are 220s at the moment. It’s the biggest I can set by hand. Lost my 330 setters so I haven’t been messing with them. So far the victor 1.75s are working perfectly. I’ll take a picture of how I been setting them up later. Probably 10-15 of those Fox were shot while driving up and down the line with a single shot .22 lr. I also just picked up a new rifle today. Savage .17 WSM. See how it does for Fox here in the next few days I am afraid a 17 WSM is going to be ROUGH on fox!
I have nothing clever to put here.

A friend of mine has been shooting fox with the WSM and has been satisfied with it's performance and not complained about fur damage. Sonny, how has the 17 been on the critters you shot! mt

Sonny, SOmething to think about and maybe you have one already but, Personally I have seen the HMR do more damage than the 22 mag the mag is a bit heavier and doesn't get pushed by the wind as bad. On a perfect hit the 17 makes pin holes but on a less than perfect it can get a little uglier. I picked up a CZ autoloader in 22 mag about 5 yrs ago the thing has been paid for a couple times with the fox, otter and wolverine it has killed. The auto load has worked flawlessly and it is a trapline gun so it isn't always clean as you would think an auto loader should be

Do we get to vote on this,,,, I vote 22 mag hollow point for fox. I am on me second rifle, Savage bolt. Will hit a dime size circle every time, at 50 yards. If I do my part. Ha... Longest shot was 124 paces, one shot in the lungs. It does not exit.... Very nice...
