All I can say is, I'm glad there aren't millions of marten sitting in a warehouse, waiting for a home. They're prices are depressed, to be sure, but I'm not sitting on 3-4 year old marten, (un-like mink).
Made it almost 3 years without censor!

Coonman it seems you are looking for information that nobody really has. In todays fur market nobody really knows where the best fur prices are coming from. It is somewhat volatile. You do however have solid guaranteed cash in hand options that have been shared with you over the last several posts. One thing i can almost assure you is that there are not going to be a lot of folks looking to give advances on wild fur this year. Other than the folks just willing to give you cash for them i suppose.

Coonman you are missing out. Groenewold live buying from the truck in Elkader , Iowa. Your chance to get higher price coon, give out better prices during this and get better, prime coon through the window later and cheaper. Less money for coon locally than nafa. I sold close 40 mink at auctions last season , the first sale, pick better ones an took home close $9 after commision, u wont see that elsewhere, I guess for stretch coon, $7-$8 Average. Green, $4-$5, rats dry, $3 at best, mink,$3, I don't know though nothing like having a big pile $1-$3 stretch coon, someone ssy the top on coon in country was at very best, $15, if do, I hope risk auction

By the time March auction happens, all orders may be filled and no demand. Your risk. Not like there is anything saying strong raccoon market ahead.

I don’t understand how you can be so worried about getting top dollar but also be taking advances and paying interest. Even if you got ten percent more you’re throwing money away on interest charges, you’d be better off taking less upfront from a country buyer than taking advances from an auction house mathematically, plus it simplifies your life and removes risk.

You midwestern guys will have rat orders filled before our season comes in. IDK, This cold weather early may reduce Fall Rat harvest.

Coonman-go on FHA website and read Mark Downeys fur forecast for 2020.

How about you take some to the Iowa Trappers Auction All the power in the midwest is at that sale. For crying out loud there are way more places to sell in Iowa than any where else in the country. Where is if at this year? Probly long way from Mississippi River where I am close January 11 in Boone, Ia

I never pay much interest on advance, not much more than $10 magazine subscription , I try call stoughton, noone answear, voicemail full, probly most lost job, pretty shocking sad

The last time I sold to him was 4 years ago, several times though season, $20 was top price, never got that for a 1 coon, some at $18, my average on well handled boarded coon was $7.25, the last time around was $5, I not willing sell finish coon for $7 average. I won't even trap anymore if that all worth

coonman- You're just in a pickle then. Hang the steel up for the year and move on.
Still curious of what your percentage of $20 or more coon at NAFA was last year if its was "way more than 15%"...? Just to humor us, take the number of $20 and above coon sold in the 2 (maybe 3) auctions and divide by the total number of coon sold. It was quick and easy because my on-line account still works fine (as of yesterday). I had thought I had sold more at that threshold as well until I actually did the math...

It seems to me coonman that you just cannot get over the fact that NAFA doesn't exist anymore. we have all had good runs of fur in the past. I once sold a 4x coon on the carcass for $24. I can assure you i will likely never see anything near that price again. With the market the way it is you are likely to not see anything near your last few averages again. There are options out ther and you will need to deviate from your old gameplan to get your coon sold this year. There is no other way to put it. Groeny had a live sale showing on facebook yesterday and i think the prices he was showing seemed higher than i though ton prices for coon. Might take a look. I think they were in your area as well but not sure. Someone before mentioned the interest on the advances. Not knowing the dollars but i assume you could sell at FHA prices last year and actually put more money in your pocket than sell at NAFA and pay interest on advances waiting for coon to sell. It is a wise decision in times of turmoil to deviate from advances and loans and try to operate on capital. The fees alone might be the margin that makes it or breaks it for you.

The first auction nafa had last season, I average $10.50 low grades. 2nd was over $20 average. May been close to $22, don't have paperwork front me , groenwold prices seem same last season on Facebook live. Green coon, $4-$6 average , depend on what got, maybe more for primer coon, rats maybe up just little , more demand , I wonder how sad mink prices are. Lot mink around this season
