Crops are still being harvested, when it's cold a guy can get around but when it warms up everything is butter then what a pain. Once we get the hard freeze the wet dirt will be like concrete then what a mess.

Been getting calls all week letting me know what’s been cut and clear to set. Gonna be able to set a bit tomorrow.

I know the feeling, i had some traps out and tripped them . The mud we have makes roads and 2 tracks impossible ro run. It did freeze last night so we got out early to check and trip traps. Nice weather had the badgers on the move, got a big ol' boy. Oh well i go back to work for 7 on, but a pair of 7 off's over holidays and first part of December. And also ranchers are behind on moving cattle and shipping calfs.

Might load up the 4 wheeler and see what I can get set over the weekend. I moved the log splitter the other day and went over a small spot of grass and now that's rutted up now. LOL With some roads closed the backtracking will add to the mess but then less places for the critters to go with the flooding.

frozen solid here cant drive a stake in ground

I feel for you guys. 68 here tomorrow, and the ground is dry as a bone. Ought to be able to get alot of steel in the ground.

Can always drive a stake in our deep soils here, just can't get them back out without a bumper jack sometimes. Or wait until spring...

It is the same down here. I am late moving cows and don't have my steer calves sold yet. I have been wanting to set some snares but the temps have been everywhere from 10 below to 55 degrees this week. I just don't have the time to check every day. I hope it evens out soon because the coyotes are looking good.

If waited for the ground to dry out down here never would set a land trap again, lol.

This crap sucks. Can’t get around. Everything takes three times as long to do. Critters are completely avoiding certain areas. Muddy coyotes. Makes a guy want to take up beer drinking and football watching.

Scrape 2” of mud off the top, than chip the 2-3” of saturated, frozen rock hard mud out. Get a trap mushed down and the next day it looks like this.

Mud and frost, the best of both worlds.

Mother nature’s having hot and cold flashes like she menopausal. Single digits one day, 40 the next. Rain, snow, rain, snow.

Should be going hard, but I’m not.

Clock is ticking. Lots of cover this year. Shot a bunch the other day, a few were getting weak hipped already.

Might just run the 4 wheeler to get sets in and dig out the trap beds before everything freezes solid, I have enough bent drivers don't need a bunch more~ LOL
