6", but it doesn't look like it in the picture. This is, by far, the earliest I have ever been on the ice.

I am betting some people will be out on Houghton Lake this weekend. I have lived here 45 years and don't ever remember the lake being ice across this early. I was walking a black bottom Marsh today that normally doesn't have use enough to walk on until mid to late December. Just waiting for the warm up to ruin everything.
Wish I had more time to trap....

I like to have at least 10" of ice under me,that water is COLD...….Looks like it will be an earlier ice fishing season than normal,i'm guessing they'll be people fishing Lake of the Woods by December 1st this year if not earlier, again the water is VERY COLD THIS TIME OF YEAR,stay safe and rip some lips......

I'll be in the boat fishing the Mississippi tomorrow thru hopefully Tuesday, water has came down 4' in the last 2 weeks and temps look decent. Eyeballs and saugers should be snapping
Quit ice fishing years ago cause winter river fishing is fantastic

I have been out a couple of times in front of my house. I have about 5 inches out there now. Caught a nice walleye last night .
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
