I've read a bit on here about pan covers and am trying screen wire cut to fit inside the jaws and layed on top of the pan. Since the jaw opposite the trigger mechanism isn't free I can't put the screen wire under the free jaw. Is there a better way to use screen wire on this trap or what do others use in this particular trap for pan covers? Last year I suspect coons were either uncovering my pan covers or digging the traps up. I'm using either waxed sand (dirt hole & flat sets) or lawn clippings (pipe dream set). Thanks for any advice!

I see no one answered. I set a couple 650's the last 3 days but used polyfill under the pan. Looks to me that it would take some special trimming to get a cover for 650's due to the hold down on the loose jaw. I do use screens on my other traps for pipe sets and bait stick sets if they are in grass.

Thx. I've heard of trappers caps but not sure if my waxed sand would still find its way under the pan.
I appreciate the feedback!

I've always just used a handful or two of peat moss then cover with soil. Never had any issues that way, personally.
