Didn't have time to get on here last evening, so am a day behind …. I have still minding my mink set at the over-hang... NADA! After the snow yesterday, when I went to check the set and looked at the concrete overflow that was show in Photo one and that several commented about. It is about right across the stream from my set. This is what I saw:
I walked all around, looking for sign, trying to determine whether it was going up stream or down. I couldn't find any sign that it was going toward the pond. I then started walking downstream, checking both banks and sand bars for tracks... Nothing … until I get about 25 yards down stream. There is an old rotten hollow log, just up on the bank and parallel with the stream:
Although the snow wasn't as heavy here, I checked all around down to the stream and on downstream another 50 yards, nothing. I guess he is parachuting into these areas.
Since I could find no indication of the mink going up or down stream and I had walked around the pond and found no sign, I assumed it was going downstream.

Chapter three
He must have been going upstream and taken the long way around through the woods. I caught him in one of my rat traps on the far side of the pond. Or maybe it was a completely different mink. Just for giggles and grins … At my mink set at the overhanging bank … I placed a fresh hind leg of a muskrat today, putting it between the two traps.
