if the Gov. passed a prohibition act. on the sale AR's and AK-47. What do you thing the long and short term effect would be. Remember there was prohibition on alcohol from 1920-1933 google alcohol prohibition and see some of the effects.

I think that very little would happen. Most people won't do a thing if every firearm in the US was banned.

Stopping the sale does not remove existing guns from circulation.

short term, Gun shops would stop selling them, General public, not so much, you'd still be able to buy one if you wanted.
Long term , the price would go up on them.

Also if sale of guns was halted it would not stop the sale of parts to make more of them. Stopping the sale does not stop the manufacture of parts.
