All I have are Nafa spec coyote boards and noticed the FHA are different in size. Will they down grade the pelts if they are not the right size?

That makes me wonder if the guys who make stretchers are going to change them to fur harvesters spec. I think most are made to nafa spec.

In my opinion, Trappers tend over think the stretcher specs. Specs are suggestions as to what that particular company prefers. They do NOT require that pelts be stretched to their specs. Heck FHA even accepts pelts stretched on wire!!

When you look at the actual specs, they are very similar to each other (NAFA and FHA), often within a fraction of an inch. The grader isn’t going to stand there and measure each pelt to make sure it is the specified width. Too time consuming and totally not necessary.

If your current stretchers give you a good stretch that closely resembles the desired shape, stick with your stretchers. No need to change.

The KISS principle should be applied.
