I'm looking at the Terhrd Mantis and the Aero Kestrel.

I’m a climber stand and ladder stand guy, but I would prefer that to a lock on. But at $150+ and climbing sticks you’re still spending about as much as a good climber cost and still have to pack in the sticks (which I have no idea about.)
May find a buddy with one and try it before I’d buy it.

Google the "one stick method". If you are in descent shape it is the way to go. Sometimes I'll pack the saddle in a back pack and strap a single stick to the outside of it. I'll still hunt with minimal carry weight, and if I see sign I want to hunt that night I'll climb and hunt right there. You can literally forget you're carrying your gear it's so lite. The saddle weighs under a pound and the stick is around 2.5lb. Ropes and carabiners......maybe 4.5-5 pounds for the entire package you need to hunt (saddle, ropes, hardware, stick)

This is false. When set up right, people with back issues have been able to sit for hours in comfort where as not so long in a tree stand.

Just watched this video on using a saddle and first climbing the tree.. NO WAY IN hadeas that anyone with back issues can even get up a tree using this method. Besides that what are you standing on ??? ALL the vids I watch they are carrying a little platform....

I've been trying one this year. I made my own because I already had a harness. Plenty of info on saddle hunter forum for those that want to go that route.
Benefits - very light, quiet, safety, only owning one "tree stand" instead of ten, no theft issues, essentially can be used in any tree rather than finding one that works for your stand, shoot 360 degrees, comfortable
Downsides - Learning curve, takes 5-10 minutes to be up in tree, if you plan to be up there over 3 hours you will want the platform or a good branch to stand on, some hip pinch in long sits (again mine is homemade, can't speak for the real ones)

The manufactured ones would be better while climbing up the tree as they have loops for the lineman rope. I will probably build or buy a platform before next year.

I would become a ground hunter before I would go back to stand hunting after using this set up. Happy hunting!

Mostly I just sit on the ground against a big tree. I can see how the concept of the saddle would be nice. Maybe one of those Eno hammock style seats. Not a hammock, but they make one that's like a seat you can lean back in. Attach it to a tree limb or leaning tree. In that saddle, I'd be afraid I'd fall asleep and be hanging possum style???

I will stick with my Summit thank you. A heck of a lot simpler! Heck, my old Tree Lounge stands are heavier but simpler than the saddle set up too.

The mesh seats like on the Millennium and Muddy stands are by far the most comfortable I've ever sat in. I did an 11-hour sit last weekend in a standard ladder stand and it was a pain in the you-know-what, even with an added cushion. But those mesh seats are no joke.

Those saddles are gaining popularity over the last few years, but still pretty pricey. They're interesting, but they dont fit my method of hunting established spots and stands.

I dont think youll be handing upside down unless you let out too much rope on your harness.

More than 20 years ago already there was something similar .I think it was called a Tree Sling .I had one but it was not something I want to spend hours at a time using . My biggest problem was always deciding which side of the tree the deer would go by on .If I guessed wrong I was always set up wrong to get a shot at the deer
