We have a 95 that the frame rusted through on. There isn't much one can do to really safely repair one. The salt cancer ate it over the years. I did patch the frame but then next the bed rusted through to the point it dropped down and was rubbing on the back of the cab. The engine oil pan may well be about rusted through as well. It is now a parts truck or yard ornament.

Toyota recalled those years and replaced the frames or bought the truck back at one time.

Word to the wise. Repairing a frame on a vehicle other than entire replacement is not accepted practice.
Most body shops will NOT repair a frame unless they replace the entire frame or in some cases replace a sub-frame. It is a liability concern. Any frame 'repaired/welded' is asking for trouble. The frame has been compromised. Any attempt good or bad can open the repairer to litigation if there is ever an accident. Most welders will not repair one as well.
If you noticed , the manufacturer would replace the frame or buy the vehicle back. Any ones they bought back were probably crushed so they would never see the road again.
Frame damage on a car that is still manufactured with a frame , like an SUV or pickup should not be 'repaired ' only replaced. Unibody cars are a bit different they do not have a frame like older cars made in the past. Unibody construction has been used since about 1960 to present model year.

I had a 99 , with 256,000 miles on it with one dent per square inch and Toyota gave me $10,400 for it and another $4500 in incentives if I used the check to buy a new one. Got a new 2009 for $10,000 and some change. Great deal. Toyota sands behind their product.

They gave me a 15 year warranty on the frame from the date of original purchase, which was 5/2000. The warranty ran out 5/2015. The rusty frame was discovered 11/2015, so I was SOL. The repair has done well for me. I spend a lot of time on rough logging roads, and not one bit of trouble from the frame has come up. I'm glad to hear it has worked well for you. Keep in mind in a major collision the frame may fail at the repair points. This why it is not accepted practice. A frame for a truck is engineered as a single unit for stress , this is why repairing it is a bad idea. Any vehicle I have looked at to buy if there is any frame damage or repair , I walk away. Most state motor vehicle inspections will not allow you to register it if damaged or repaired. Only way a state DMV will allow that vehicle back on the road is if the frame has been replaced. A lot of 'totalled' cars by insurance companies is due to frame damage. Using your repaired vehicle on rough off road type use is not my or DMV concerns , it is the major accident worries that will be the real concern.
