I've released a couple, but I always have a fencing tool in the truck, so I just cut the wire.

This is my Dad releasing the buck we found during deer season. This is one of a herd of mule deer that frequent the yard all year. We don’t hunt mule deer but he would have got a pass no matter what.

Wow, your dad must be some kind of deer whisperer! That buck was amazingly calm the whole time.

Eh...wot?

Awesome!!!

Years ago In Wyoming near Ucross, I released a fawn muley caught in barb wire...but it had struggled too much and was already hamstrung....carried it down to the river - laid it where it could drink. Im sure a coyote or bobcat ended up with a meal.

Great video There!!!

That deer was lucky your father found and released him.

I find one or two dead deer in fences most years. A lot of times they just put a foot through two different holes in the fence and hang themselves by that leg. The coyotes find them quick. I found a dead dog that hung itself that way too.

We fenced in one side of 28 acres one day and found a deer that had ran into the fence, dead by it the next morning, that appeared to have broken its neck. The coyotes had already eaten a lot of it..

I released a yearling Muley from my pasture fence years ago. I might have been more careful, had it been a mature buck that may have had an attitude. eek

Good job, 'Dad'.

. Glad to see you are still kicken, Andrew. Cabela's isn't as much fun since you left. frown
