That is one healthy black bear, I guess I won't worry about a 550 holding a cat or coyote. I was also using MB Super Chain Stakes with three inline swivels and none were welded closed. The bear pulled free between video clips and I reset the trap for cats. https://youtu.be/lLNnxccBpy0

No Christmas card for you. LoL, fortunately we dont have any of those in Illinois. Because the way my luck runs I would catch one every check.

Ok, so now we know that both an mb550 and a pro550 can hold a bear until there is multiple reports or videos I wouldnt say that about the pro just yet. This is its first season in the field so we should have a good reading on it by end of season.

This guy had the advantage of having a sizable spruce handy and he used three legs and his teeth to purchase a grip. Great trap, great stakes and great swivels. Hats off to MB!

I thought non target catches where not allowed to post? Sorry, I just don't see the benefit of posting a bear in a trap "interesting" but not good PR for trappers. I've caught plenty of non target stuff best to deep six and shut up... I'm sure I'll get blow back for being a sissy or something, but the top of page "no non target catches"... I thought that meant as in dogs and cats, etc.. If it's against policy I'll pull it, if Boss doesn't get to it first. I fail to see how posting a video of an animal that is completely legal to trap is any more offensive than posting a pic of a coyote or coon.

So by that theory, a cat caught in a coyote set, or a coyote in a fox set, or a coon is any set for me since i dont set for coons but still catch them on my K-9 line, would be a non target catch. I trap furbearers but dont catch any fur bears here, i personally enjoyed watching the video.

I did release this one. Two of my friends 550'ed bears this fall up here in The County.

That's surprising, kind of late for them. Must be all the food in the woods. I thankfully didn't have any IN traps, though did have some messing with my traps this year. This: And then this 10 feet from my set a few nights in a row let me know the culprit, lol:
