Nice looking axe. what about an Estwing ? It would be more durable than the wooden handle.

I bought an Eastwing and sold it. The balance point for carrying it is on the narrow metal portion of the handle and is very uncomfortable. It would probably be a good option to throw in a canoe or ATV but I went back to a wood handle.

I have always judged axes/hatchets by their heads. Handles are replaceable.

I bought a Snow and Nealley Penobscot kindling axe last year from Trapper's Post. It's a nice little hatchet.

I have a Wetterlings and it's great. For the price, I hate to use it on my line because of all the cutting near the ground.

I use a Bridgeport hatchet primarily because I walk mostly. If I can drive to a set, I like a pulaski.

Any axe made by the Mann tool (axe) company in Lewistown PA will not disappoint.

Check out this old thread. . .

axes!

I have a little Marles axe that I like a lot and for when things get a bit rough a council tool boys axe does a good job as well. That one I have on my belt for driving wedges when falling trees.

Pretty looking handles above, but have you guys looked at the price?

I've got a batch of axes/hatchets and such. You know, one of my favorites is a Sears single-bit, it's in the truck now. Don't remember, it was $25 or so?

Also like my best double-bit ax. I've had it for years and I'll never wear it out. It's worn me out more than once.

I was at my Stihl dealer yesterday, Stihl has a nice selection of various purpose axes. They looked like very over built with very beefy hickory handles. Next payday I will own the cruiser ax version.
