I have always owned two or three new vehicles at a time since the mid 90's.
You have to be smart about how you manage your money and don't buy into the BS about credit being better than paying cash.Make payments to yourself and have that money working for you instead of the bank.
And new low milage used vehicles nowadays are about the same price as brand new,no savings buying those.

Not sure if Driving Force has outlets near you ?? But you can check out their website. A very basic new truck will cost you 50K minimum in Canada. Prices go up from there. I know guys who have paid over 90 K, and mid 60s is common. I can buy a certified truck just a couple years old with 18-25 km on it for under 25K. Thats half price or better.

I agree cash is the way to go. Im 56 and have never had a mortgage and only paid rent once when we were first married. We saved, bought land, and built ourselves. Dave Ramsey has great financial advice. Why do you need all those new rigs?? Unless you are filthy rich you have a lot of your cash tied up in three rigs you cant possibly drive at the same time! If I had that kind of cash I would quit working and go trapping wink

That was the small 8 Yukon-good engine, good truck all around.Sold it for $6500 with extra tires and rims to a guy I knew.
I ordered my new one from the factory with the options I wanted and a lot I did not.
One vehicle for the wife, and another for me running around, and the trapping truck.Like I said I keep new vehicles for 10 years, all are not new at the same time.
The wife needs a new one every 5 years since she puts on a lot of miles. She likes working(out of town) and only retired this year. She also volunteers for a lot of stuff related FN,native womens assn, and the elders group for fundraising etc.
I'm an old age pensioner,I just do what I want when I want since 2012.

Think I'll look around out of state some. New is way out of my price range.

Maybe he'll loan me one for the trapping season lol! I wish I knew someone selling. So much depends on how they are maintained.

I like to buy new, keep them maintained and they will last me a good 10 years, and have a decent re-sale value.I own several vehicles, and put on about 30,000 km a year on the truck.
There are a few good used trucks out there. If you go that route make sure you buy from someone you know, who took care of the mtc, otherwise it is a crap shoot.

Big difference between junk and pre owned. Repairs are usually cheaper than payments. Buying new has to much depreciation. You lose in the end. If one can afford new that is great, but financially 3 years old and older are better decisions. It's been proven.

There is a reason a vehicle has become a preowned and often it's at a mileage where problems will occur or have already in most cases.

Some yes. Others because we live in a materialistic society and people want new for status, or just because they can.

I agree with Boco, I trap year round and need a truck that will start and go every day. Buy someone elses problems and that is fine if you don't need to go anywhere or have other vehicles. I also do the finances the same as Boco, only makes sence.

A friend of mine travels down to California every few years to visit his mother who lives there. He flies down, buys a truck, ( used) and drives back. He really likes Toyotas so thats what he usually gets. Anyway he says that there are some real good deals in California and Nevada, and its so dry vehicles dont rust there. Might be an option for ya??

It worked well for me during my life, takes a bit of planning/long term thinking when starting out and some willpower to bank money but pays off big time later on.You will have all kinds of money(and stuff) and not owe a cent to anyone.

Get on cargurus, type in what your looking for and your location. They’ll email you when one your looking for hits the market along with price analysis. Don’t cost nothing.

I don't buy new. I bought my 2000 Tacoma in 2004 with 100,000 miles on it and paid 10,500 for it. It now has 660,000 miles on it and repairs are no where near what new replacement vehicles would have been over the years. It's in great shape. Heck, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to Alaska and back.

California taxes the daylights out of pickups.I did that with my current Tacoma.Blue book here was 21,000 and 16,000 in California.Savings more than made up for a plane ticket.I had not known that vehicles Blue Booked differently in some States till my bank pointed it out.

I've heard so many stories like this that a Toyota will be my next truck. Wont even look at anything else.

I have always bought used. Buying off individuals is the way to go. Car lots and dealer ship will only screw you, atleast I haven't ever seen one that wouldn't. My dad just bought a new truck 45 grand paid cash. He has been driving his old truck for 13 years and he bought it used. He still drives the old truck and keeps the new one in the shop. I told him that he will never get the 45 grand back it lost for ever. I figured he may have 17 in the old one not bad for 13 years. If I had the money to waste I might buy a new one. I might make payments on my house but in 20 years it's still worth something the new truck will not be worth much.

The new Toyota trucks are spendy and they have so much tech it's scary they tried to sell me several warranty plans when I bought it . If it runs out of warranty and breaks down it could get crazy or reported stolen. LOL

I would never buy a new truck, heck I couldn't swing it anyway, but if I could I still wouldn't. Find a used one from the south that has good bones and fix it up. I bought a 97 f250 HD couple years ago and right now, it's a big part of why I won't make it to PA this year to hunt. However, I think by 2021, I should have a humdinger I can drive anywhere and I won't have a payment. It sucks to be me now, but here I come.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....
