This garter snake was moving slowly across the ice that had formed over half the ponds surface. I can honestly say I’ve never seen a snake in November let alone on the ice. [Linked Image]

It's climate change. Just asked the college pukes from the Harvard/ Yale game. They will educate you and everyone else. LOL Sarge

Ha Ha, me either. But, I did see a bull frog hop across the ice to open water the other day by a Beaver Dam. Must be a Nebraska thing???

I have found frogs and snakes on the ice when heavy rain washed them out of tiles they were hibernating in, onto the ice.

Was their any tiles nearby and had it rained recently?

No, no rain just a couple warm afternoons with cold mornings.

Last week I saw salamanders crossing the road while walking. Earlier in November saw many caterpillars crossing the roads. It seems many species around here got a late start and are running late this fall as well.

Wrong. That is not a garter snake. It is a pre-rut snow snake. You guys must be gettin your winter drunk on early this year. Snow snakes aren't usually seen until the month of Drunkcember

You crack me up grin

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....
