All you have to do is look at the Team Leaders that they have picked up......quite a few people with experience at least in western Canada.
If you look at some of the vlogs of the auctions you see GWF people buying in the auction so they were here buying fur .

What were they buying? My guess, is the stuff the Auctions are giving away.

Never hurts to have them bid, I sent some beaver there once. I didn't like the price they sent them back... I was only out the ship fee to them they sent back on their dime. I always prick stamp my furs and such they all had my stamp... Other buyers I'd be skeptical of top lotting…. Unfortunately that has happened to me before w/ an auction Co I had a load of several thousand spring rats and the smallest I had in there was a few larges. You just don't catch small rats in the spring they are all adults, well come auction print out I had a bunch of small and mediums... I'm sorry rats don't shrink they might vary in quality but NOT SIZE!. And only thing I could come up w/ was the collector skimmed some of my XXXL and threw in inferiors I never shipped to existing auction Co. again. A good friend of mine and old skool trapper fur handler once told me of a story of FHA had an agent in I Falls that always had the best top lots furs I'm sorry but no trapper consistently gets the best furs out there... Well as he explained some select furs were marked and guess what ol collector switcharroo had those marked pelts in his pile... I wish I had a name but that is a risk one takes, another one is a tannery or should I say tannery go between... Mark your furs w/ a prick stamp, once again I've been creamed and gotten western or red rimmed beaver back... this game of furs is skin or be skinned and there is a trickster to take yours I'm sure. My guess is they purchased anything they could either make a presumed margin with a relatively short turnover or stuff so cheap it was worth their while to take a gamble.

I suppose they didn't expand into Canada before is there wasn't enough room in the marketplace fornthem. Canadian trappers are very loyal to the auction houses

The only FHA agent I know of from I Falls was Jim R. That man was/is above reproach. There could have been someone before him from there but I don't think so. FHA has only been in business since the nineties.

I thought the guy before him was from Central MN. The guy after is from SD.I could be wrong.

Think positive there is another buyer in Canada.....with Bruno pulling out we needed another source to buy marten in Thompson this year to set a base price. Since Dave B was the main grader for marten for NAFA there should be some interesting prices paid...up front money in hand. There was a lot of advances last year and lots still owe money to both auction company's.

They did buy a lot of wool in Canada that was brokered at the boarder so they have been in Canada.

Each province has it so you have to be a resident to be a fur buyer stems back to the old days of the trade.
