I’ve had good luck with the cheap Walmart tasco I think it was the $28 one. Mine has been out for a year solid without issue although I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have a picture count or battery level indicator.

I normally run Bushnells, but the last couple I have had lasted just over the one year warranty period and died. I was getting 3 to 4 years out of them running them year round.

I have 15 for the cheap Walmart Tasco cams. For $28 its a good cam that gets the point across. If the animal is moving to fast at night the image of the animal is blurry. I use the cheap cams in an area until I find something that I want better quality pictures. Then I switch out with a higher quality cam. In my opinion its better to run 10 budget cams (that work) than 1 or 2 high dollar cam.

Yes they have an IR filter over the flash bulbs. They make no visible light at all when they take a pic. Some of them have IR bulbs but they make a slight red glow when they take a pic or film. I know it doesnt always spook animals especially if they come through often but i prefer no light or clicks or beeps or nothing. The wildgame cams i have call them blackout models. They arent any more expensive than the regular ones or not much anyway. I have several that i got for 40-50 bucks and they are great and will last several seasons. Pretty decent on battery life too. If you shop around on somewhere like amazon you can get last years models for great prices. The new models are the same internals with a different paint job or something and will be 80 or 100 bucks. I think the cams i have are 10-12 megapixels. I tried some moultrie cams one year and they wouldnt trigger on small animals like fox or possum and coon. They would only trigger on deer. The wildgame cams trigger on everything that moves.

For $80 right now you can get the Moultrie XA7000i (AT&T) or the XV7000i (Verizon) cellular trail camera from Amazon. It's on sale for $130 and there's a manufacturer's rebate for $50 back.

Just something to think about.

nothing to think about for me...too much to waste on a camera. i cant justify that cost..i have a kid to raise. Last 2 tascos one lasted yr other lasted 3-4 months and burned up

How much did you spend on the two Tasco cameras that lasted less than 16 months combined? The only reason I would buy a cheap (junk) camera is if I was going to run it on public land and thought it might grow legs and walk off.

But if $80 is too much, no worries. Just thought I'd make a suggestion on a great deal on a great camera.

I would assume you would have to have AT&T service or Verizon to get the benefit of those cameras and that aint free last time I checked as well....

Yes, in order for the camera to transmit images, it requires a data plan and a location that can connect to either of those networks. But even without the plan, the camera performs just like a regular trail camera. So you could run with the data plan during the hunting or trapping months then cancel when not needed. My camera is 2 hours away, so even at $10/month for the data plan, I can't drive there and check the camera once a month for that much in gas.

But that's here nor there since it's not what OP is looking for.
