My wife and i are in the market for a new/used suv...... We currently have a 2011 subaru legacy for her to drive.... With a little one comming in april we have decided to start looking for a suv.... man are there many options out there....I guess if im going to buy used im looking for a lexus, acura or toyota..... If we go the new route where looking at subaru forester or nissian rouge... but there many other options out there... I live in the snow belt so awd is a must. Our legacy has run great in the snow.... Any of you guys have reconmendations on the suv market.....So many options to choose from... thanks

We are on our second Toyota Highlander they seem to be good vehicles. We live in a rural area with all kinds of driving conditions. Regular maintenance is about all we have done. Fuel mileage is not that grate 22 to 24 mpg. Run the last one to 170000 when we traded it and this one has right at a 100000 on it. Happy shopping

So many reasons one will think one is better then others.

Trunk space, seat space, head room, Field of view from seat.
4 wheel drive, all wheel drive, amount of clearance.

We drove quite a few and got a Toyota 4 runner with 2 row seating
And opted for the truck space

Check out Scotty Kilmer on youtube. He might be a little annoying, but he seems like a no BS guy. Type his name and best used SUVs.

Wife just got a crv, we both like it a lot. 28-29 mpg, AWD seemed to scoot around pretty good so far on the only couple little snows we have had. It was a little cheaper than the new Toyota rav4s, and the wife didn’t like the looks of the Subaru’s. Don’t think you’ll go wrong with any of the toyota, Honda or Subaru’s.

Local Toyota dealership sells more Rav4's than anything else. Wife is wanting 3rd row seating and the Subaru ascent (sp.) is more affordable than the highlander, here. AWD is a must for us. Toyota dealer will not budge on price ( they don't have to) but you can normally get lifetime oil change.

We’ve got a Rav4. It’s tough. I like it enough that when my wife gets an upgrade, I’m gonna keep it until it just flat out dies on us. I’ll sell one of my trucks and keep the Rav4. It just goes everywhere and does it easily. Has more space in the back compared to my uncles old Forrester too. Love that ride. And with the V6, it scoots like no ones business.

I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

Subaru Forester. Love it. Put a receiver on the back, made a nice rack to haul critters. Bought another set of rims, put on a set of aggressive tread studded tires. It runs like a raped ape in the snow and mud.

Ford Explorer is what I have, with a hitch haul for stuff I don’t want in the cargo area.

I'll second the vote on the Honda CRV. Bought ours new, 130,000 trouble free miles so far. I'll buy a new one one this one wears out.

I bought a used Subaru Outback 11 months ago. We've put 11,000 miles on it already. Wife drove it around before bringing home last winter, 15" of snow, said it was like it wasn't there.Drove it to Coyote Days last year, and two trips back to central NY to visit friends and family. It averages 31mpg @70-75 mph on the interstate. Not bad for AWD. Yeah, they have a weird motor and a CVT so they shift a little funny, but no complaints so far.

Drove a 2020 rouge and forester today, both feel great, both same price pretty much... rouge has more bells and whistles though, but Subaru has a better warranty

got a 2009 RAV. Has 225,000 miles. Water pump was replaced around 100k but that's only non-routine maintenance. i drove it pretty hard for quite awhile, its just my commuter vehicle now and probably due for major work if keep it. with snow/all terrain type tires it'll go most places up to a point. pretty decent vehicle overall.
