I was talking with a guy a while in Kansas that said he put marker flags (very lightly) in mole runs to see if they were active. He would do this the day before. I was thinking of try putting a flag just ahead of Steve's trap so I would not have to dig the up. Down side a vole could trip them and you will not know. I will remove about 3/4 of the flag so thing does not tip them. What do you think? Just looking for a edge.

It's worth trying. I think soil type, tunnel depth and weather will be hard to work around but with the right touch should be doable. Now whether the extra trouble adds anything of value I'm not sure.
I quit doing moles awhile ago but I'm still always learning. Keep us posted, please.

With the speed that moles run their tunnels, if they haven't hit the trap in 2 days, they aren't going to. Move the trap.

Vast majority of our moles we catch within the first 24 hours...setting the right run and knowing how to identify those runs is key to catching the mole quick...I teach my techs to set only 2 traps per mole they think is in the yard...there is absolutely no need to set 5 to 8 traps to catch one mole
