Fun stuff, the haaarse sports are ! Nothin like a good gun/archery horse -wish there were a lot more of them. Is that a loose jaw snaffle ? Trying to see it better . A good balance of the curb leverage needed along with the give for direct reining when needed. A lot like a mechanical hackamore . Always like seeing what gear others use. Nice palomine you have, Jaclyn . Thanks for the share !

Here! This is me and my palomeener at an archery event in Idaho. I’ve been busy with my folks in town (in Great Falls, yes) and I still get yelled at for looking at screens in their presence....will try to log on more! That's one of the most bad*** pics I've ever seen!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Miss Sharon gonna grin ear to ear on that pic. My thoughts exactly. Here! This is me and my palomeener at an archery event in Idaho. I’ve been busy with my folks in town (in Great Falls, yes) and I still get yelled at for looking at screens in their presence....will try to log on more! I want to see the big Marine do the same! Chris Chris, ya know, I’m just a dumb Marine. Whenever I’d jump on one of them 3D targets and wrastle it to the ground, they’d never fight back and people just laugh ‘with’ me. Lol. I ain’t shooting a bow from a horse. No way, no how. Not unless the young lady shows me how. I’m one of those 3 points of contact people on a horse. I’ll let go with a hand or kick a foot out but the other 3 are held on tight.

Is that a Mongolian Horse bow? Horn, or fiberglass?
Welcome aboard Jaclyn. Mongolian, all wood!

John, you'd do fine a ridin' . And you would have three points of contact .... two feet and your bum. Hands free . All you need is one of those tall drafts or warmblood types that are 17 hands - six feet at the top of the shoulder. With your height you would need a tall one . .you feel like you're on top of the world. Jaclyn, what a pleasant face your horse has ! That straight profile, tall upright set neck , ears ,and his feet in the photo looks like he is in gait , a fast trot , ready to break into a run... Walker ? Or Saddlebred ...maybe a Kentucky Mountain Gaiter. Those pacer and gaited horses have become very popular over the years, smooth and fast covering ground. Even an Appaloosa that has the uncommon natural Indian Shuffle is very nice. His higher tail set reminds me also of possible Arabian cross , though walkers also can have that same build. I like to guess So many mix and matches nowadays , it's a challenge . I see exactly what you mean in needing contact to check speed , your inside rein in check , which also bends him slightly into the target as you go straight, , helping your aim . Same principal with all of them who anticipate speed and want to get on with it ! Love that attitude. Yezzum, a loose jaw shank , perfect for direct reining , just enough grab in contact to keep them light on the forehand. Know what you mean on grouse flushing ! I have done that unintentionally , too ! Lots of fun, Jaclyn .

Think I just learned more about horses in the last 5 minutes than I have in the past 50 years. Thanks Sharon.
