I am still hoping I have two reds up there too. Hope I get something out of them, doubt it. Glad I had everything tanned last year.

Furs will keep for a year or two without cold storage. They will be a lot staler and not worth as much but they won’t completely rot away.
Do we even know for sure that the cold storage has been shut off. Lots of speculation so far. Don't know, but in the Bankruptcy creditors listing, they owe $43,181 to Toronto Hydro Electric. What I don't understand , is why they owe the National Trappers Association money. Did the NTA ship furs to NAFA ?

Wiss miss, very bad idea to hold furs over w/out proper storage, mold, bugs, might as well take them to the dump now as they'd be beetle poop lickety split or maybe try some toxic brew to kill the bugs you'd need a semi load and then the pelts would be contaminated... I can almost hear the buzzing sound of bazzillions of grub mandibles feasting from 2500 miles away! uhg what a fine pickle the king and his jester have made.... But if they did let the furs rot/bugs it might actually be a good thing since we might not see the monies anyway and give those speculators a good dose of medicine and at the same time remove those skins from the picture all together... So as to clear the shelves of stale goods... fresh goods are always best... I always got a kick out of the auction houses and their "high clearance" ba ha ha…NO not high clearance simply a different owner/ consigner those pelts never went down range to market heck they didn't even get rotated in the cooler, Just more pelts to bog down next years fresh goods... Burn the place and call the insurance Co. !

If an Auction tells you before you ship that they have no/limited market for your pelts in their market reports, or the previous sales have poor clearances/prices, and trappers trap and ship these species, I can't really blame the Auction company for jamming up the pipeline.

I wont touch stale fur-it doesnt tan well, and even if it looks OK,it doesnt last after dressing like a fresh skin. The leather is weak.Certain species are bad, fisher being one of the worst.Marten on the other hand hold over better than most if kept dry in the freezer.

Just what happens when you try and manipulate markets instead of letting the free market forces work each and every year. I am fortunate after the coon debacle a few years back I never shipped them another piece of fur. I think I just smelled a rotten rat turns out it was already past rotten, rancid I believe fits. Manipulating the market? Do you mean by holding the line and trying to force higher prices? Not just selling at the high bid?

Selling below set minimums in the PT room, was not a good idea. If you don't think buyers would collude to not bid, then you are naive.
