I did a lot of hunting this year and realized I’m probably the worst hunter in the world. Did a lot of sits of seeing nothing. And when you see nothing, the walk in in the dark and the walk out in the dark gets pretty old! I had exactly 0 mature bucks on trailcam this year until October.15th and finally got pics of a nice 140” buck. Problem was they were all at night and I was never able to find him on other cameras but this one. But after passing up a lot of Doe’s and little bucks, this was the biggest buck that I seen all season. I wasn’t ready for tag soup! At 10:10am I decided it was too cold to sit till 11am in the treestand like planned. So I figured I’d do some calling and go home at 10:30am. I did 4 Doe bleats then gave about 15 buck grunts of all different sounds and sizes lol. 10:12am this guy showed up and I figured he’ll do! Actually might not make a magazine cover, but I’d rather shoot this one here than a 150” in a corn field. Thanks for looking! I love you guys!

They get much bigger than this guy. This one is 2 1/2 years old. Mature bucks here are tanks for sure!

Thanks guys! As cold as it is where you hunt, I'd have shot the first loose horse that showed up. I would return the saddle, of course. LOL! Me too! Luckily for me there’s no farms close by lol. You did better than me also in the headgear department. All I got was a doe and a road killed moose. Lol
At least you got a buck pic for the wall! Nice deer. Lol hey that’s one way to look at it I guess! I’m thankful for it, and I very well could have ended up with a Doe too if he didn’t walk in.

Persistance pays! That deer is worth much more than a bigger set of antlers that you luck into during the first 15 minutes of the season.
You should have your gun with you in the picture, though. And, you probably got your butt all wet sitting in the snow like that.

Any deer is a good one in my opinion. I took a local real estate guy out in the boat on Monday. We got to talking about hunting. I mentioned I snuck away from work for a few hours and filled my doe tag, and his head jerked away like I'd slapped him. "Oh, our group doesn't shoot does" he remarked.
Well, I do. Lol. And I keep eating sized fish, don't care if a wood duck is full plumage and will shoot a 160lb bear.
We are swimming in smallmouth bass here, and I get a real kick out of the guys who won't keep a bass....like they are sacred or something. My trophy bass? About 16" long. Yum. And I release a big one also, but don't get too choked up if it swallowed the hook and needs to be kept.
Sure, if a ten pt, and a small six we're side by side, I'd probably shoot the ten. But I wouldn't hesitate on the six if it was a closer shot!
