I skinned out a coyote that I am going to send in for tanning. I skinned the legs all the way, including the feet and toes.

When I stretch the hide do I have to do anything with those long legs? And do I need to turn them with the rest of the hide, fur out?

I was thinking maybe use a small mink board to pin out the rear legs, but the fronts are cased, like the main body. I suppose I could slip in a small board from the mouth opening, but there's not be a good way to pin them open.

Thanks for any help.

Question is do you really have to turn it if you are sending it in for tanning. I say no, turning is for the fur market. When tanning they will just hydrate it and flip it back anyway.

I was wondering that also, might just stretch it and leave it fur in.

Thanks.

Leave them fur In.
When drying the hide position your stretcher so the legs hang away from the body. I use a step ladder to do this.

No point in turning it if you are sending it to a tannery. Less work for you and a decreased change of something getting damaged.
