You guys that are giving phenobarb.

What dose your dog get for a dose?

My dog gets 80 mg 2x a day.

My dog is a toy dog and only weighs 10 lbs. She gets 32.4 mg. twice per day.

Had a water spaniel that used to get them. Vet put her on a low dose of phenobarbital which I put in her food. That seemed to pretty much solve the problem.

My dog is a GSP also and hers started at 4 years too. She is pretty wiped out for a few days later. If I let her out and don't keep my eye on her she will aimlessly wander away. 80mg once a day. I believe these seizures are decreasing her intelligence.

I had a GSP with seizures and I also put him on Zonisamide every 12 hours. It helped a lot and the only time after that he had seizures was if I missed or was late giving meds to him. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

The seizures are very infrequent and I don't want to give her anything that can effect any of her other organs.
I'm going to try the CBD route and see how that goes. I can't imaging if she was having them every week or if they lasted more than a minute or 2.
Of coarse I haven't been home when she has them, but they don't last long and she recovers quickly.. I have walked in the door within 5 minutes of her having one and she acts like nothing had happened.
My wife and kids have though, and it scares the crap out of them.

Have tried feeding a no - grain dog food? Wheat can trigger seizures.

I have a blue healer that has had them since he was a pup. Like others the vet put him on phenobarbital. Twice a day everday. They say it shortens their life, but he just turned 14 and still goin just as strong as an old dog should. I actually can't remember the last time he had a seizure. It's been down to maybe one or two a year for a long time. Good luck with yours. They are heart breaking episodes to watch.
