He says he is having a more difficult breathing from smoking too much. At 86 years of age, I imagine the harm has been done.

Love his music but no sympathy for the lung issue.

I have sympathy for him just like a would anyone else addicted to drugs. But not a lot of respect for him.

Poe took hashish? Really, or is that a joke?
It would certainly explain his crazy inspirations in his writings.

If he stops he won't live long. A lot like the car engine you never change the oil in. Do it and it blows up....................

There is not one shred of evidence that Edgar Allan Poe ever used hashish, most likely because he never used it.

There is only evidence that he used any drug, besides alcohol once, which is when he took laudanum, a medical form of opium, to try to attempt suicide with.

Some of Poe's characters used opium. Since he wrote in first person, some people thought he may have used opium, without any evidence for it.

Awfully judgmental here. You folks have forgotten what he and Neil Young did for Farmaid. Willie has his own ghosts but he wrote many great songs for Patsy Cline and others.

Marijuana is just another man's single malt scotch.

Alot on here would love to have lived his life.

A lot of people have organs failing at almost 90 years old . Pick your poison.

Many of Poe's writings seemed to come from the dark recesses of his mind. Once such writing, "The Telltale Heart" comes to mind. I was quite involved in drama in high school and did a one act play playing the main and only character in "The Telltale Heart". I've pretty much read all of his stuff and know a little about his life.

You can say what you want he still was braking the law. But most pot smokers would not agree. But if you can't beat it, change the laws and they are.

He wrote some great songs-I didn't care for him as a performer.
I have seen a lot of my old friends pass on from lung diseases from pot smoking, and one is waiting for a lung transplant.
