There is no other country on the earth where more poor people die of obesity and obesity related conditions than the US. It's bizarre that morbid obesity is a bigger problem for the poor than starvation.

I say good, make them get off there hind ends and work. There are a lot of folks on government checks that are perfectly able to work.

Junk food loaded with chemicals and preservatives is cheaper than good food. Add lots of carbs and sugar and there's just one of the problems to unhealthy lifestyle of these people.

Many in this country and even a few on Tman who preach " Freedom " are some of the first to take advantage of social programs

You can't have it both ways

You must practice self reliance 100% to truly experience Pure Freedom

Get rid of SNAP all together I say, it's a waste. But also, if you know someone who needs help, help them out. But them groceries, pay a bill, etc. I only like my money going to help people I know deserve it. My wife and I help plenty of people, but I'll never give a dime to charity or a homeless shelter because I don't know who's getting the money.

The generational dependency has to stop. Time for some tough love.

Good food is cheaper than junk food. It just takes more effort to prepare good food. Rice, beans, chicken leg quarters, ground turkey and even ground beef are cheaper to live on and healthier than junk food, but many poor people don't want to take the effort to prepare their meals.

The poor should be given good food not given a choice to purchase what they want. They should also have to do public service to pay society back for supporting them.

The past 5 years or so have been the first time in my life I have not been considered "poor". As kids we could not afford ketchup but we always had good food that my mom prepared, rice,beans, chicken that we grew,road killed deer. My dad used to talk to the local DNR officer and he would let us know when a deer was dead on the road. Looking back we ate better and healthier than most of my friends did. If you subsidize something the problem only grows.

What is SNAP?

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program=Food stamps. You don't get stamps nowadays though, you use what amounts to a credit card that the state loads money onto for you.

It helps the farmers out selling surplus foods.

Some say "Oh snap " instead of " Oh crap " or " Oh shi_ "

I too am curious who on here preaches freedom and yet takes advantage of social programs.
