Shrimp tempura roll , spicy Toro roll , beef negamaki roll are some of my favs.

Had a sushi chef make a special dish for me once , he insisted , wanted to show off his skills. It was close to Halloween. He took a large Dakion radish and carved into a skull , cut the skullcap open and hollowed it out. Filled it with tuna sashimi with a blood red spicy sauce . You got to eat the 'brains' . Lol...it was neat , guy did a good job , left him a good tip.

It's more common than you would think. Almost all sushi bars have them. Most boats are only used for parties with at least 4 people at the table. A lot of times the selection is chef's choice also known as omakase.

I fix my "sushi" well done. In a deep fryer with the oil so hot you need to do it outside.

we took a class at the high-school on rolls and sushi , I mostly do the rolls with the imitation crab and rice and such at home , great to bring to a pot luck also people really like it.

we get out for the real good Pro sushi about once a year in Madison , there are a few Asian buffets around that have a decent selection of rolls and shrimp on rice and such , maybe get those 2-3 times a year

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I didn't mean to say my wife buys sushi in a tube. She buys wasabi in a tube.

Ditto. I love it all except that sea urchin roe; think it's called something like ooni. sick

I never acquired a taste for Uni ( sea urchin)
It's supposedly a delicacy in Japan.

This was our last sushi outing. To me rolls are a side item to sushi but technically it must be sushi too. Sushi is the fish on the rice, Sashimi is just the fish, a roll may or may not have fish and is just a roll. We get a little of everything when we go. This place was pretty good.

Best sushi restaurant i've found in the US is a little place called Samurai in the French Quarter of NO.

Anchorage used to have three or four good, authentic Japanese restaurants, but no more. The Koreans and Chinese discovered they could charge higher prices for Japanese food, and some of them suddenly became sushi chefs. As of this time, every sushi shop I know of in town is owned and run by Koreans and one Chinese family. If you go in, don't expect to order in Japanese or for them to pronounce the menu items correctly. The older generation of Japanese who ran the restaurants for decades have retired and their kids don't want to take over the business. Nothing wrong with that, except in most cases the new owners cut quality of ingredients while maintaining or even increasing prices. And most American customers can't tell the difference.

Still there are some good sushi restaurants left here. You just have to bribe someone who has a Japanese wife to tell you which ones to hit and which to avoid.

Best part of making your own is you can try different fillings

Most Asian cultures have their own traditional version of sushi

Used to be a restaurant on wayzata ave that had very good sushi and Japanese food that was all you could eat but you ordered off a menu but it’s now a Tai restaurant
