I didn't really need any, but figure for that price I can donate them to the Association auction. There are five in the kitchen now.

just polish them a bit. they are heavier than the old pans but work every bit as good. cast iron never wears out. buy the best modern no stick skillet you can find and use it for a year. needs tossed out and the cast iron is still getting better from use.

I take the new cast and run a palm sander in it to smooth it out. Just keep changing to finer paper and it will be as smooth as any ever made.

Did they ever make a cast iron skillet bigger than like 15-16" I have three that size and they are great for fish frys. You can cook a lot of battered items spread out over that big surface like onion rings without them all getting stuck together and you still get the heat holding ability of the cast iron to keep your grease hot. No 14 is the largest Griswold I believe it is around 15 inches across. They are very pricey when you find one. The last no 14 i saw they wanted 750 for.

I got their big dutch oven with feet a couple months ago for $17. I grabbed it right away thinking it was a typo.

Had a nice set of plans the wife said they are to heavy so that was the end of that. LOL That was the problem with my wife also, so now I move the pans around for her. Still using them. Had a venison steak fried in one last night.

An old Erie #12 is the biggest pan I have in use. A single burner distributes heat pretty evenly but I think bigger than that it would be a problem. If I need more room I'll use my cast iron griddle.
I can see using a bigger pan for deep frying.

Had a venison steak fried in one last night. My wife has complained about the same thing. We compromised, we don't use the cast iron sauce pans anymore and but still use the pans and griddle almost daily. Swapped out the iron sauce pans for good quality clad stainless.

I just bought a cast iron wok. I cook a lot of stir fry and I love it. Weighs a ton but really holds the heat. Found out in my searches that the Swedish make a bunch of high quality cast iron stuff.
Pete lodge ,makes a cast iron wok , no good for tossing the fry have to use wooden spoon to move it around but does heat very well if you don't have any lodge cast iron pizza pans , add that to the Christmas list , we now have 2 wife dropped in to the seconds store in South Pittsburgh TN they work very well on the grill in the summer to do a frozen pizza as well as on home made pizza night we can do 3 big pizzas with our dough recipe it is nice to be able to have 2 on the pizza pan and the 3rd in the #14 skillet and keep them moving in and out of the oven. it only seems like I am cooking for a Platoon it is really just a bunch of teens.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
