Local buyer told me $30 last week for nice ones but that's here in the midwest. Guess ours are considered eastern so may be close.

I only have 3 but if they are only worth 30 bucks I'm going to be really disappointed.

Most country buyers around here sent very little to Nafa most either bought for brokers like zander or groenwald or several other smaller brokers . Many country buyers are not as small as you might think (or as small as groeny.might want you to think) with their own connections with the chinease Greeks turkish Italians many of these connections go way back to the boom or earlier . The chinese are notorious for traveling through the countryside visiting country buyers trying to buy up quantities of whatever fur they are looking for .
Growny ,NAFA , FHA are not the only places to sell or the only place for your local buyer to sell

Weibke Fur in Eitzen, MN (and LaCrosse, WI) is paying $30 for carcass coyotes. If you stretch and dry I’ll assume you’ll do better. They’re also paying $16 on prime 4X coon but I’m guessing it’s skinned, scraped and dried stuff. 3X was $12; 2X was $9 and just XL was somewhere around $4. These prices were given to me by a friend who lives in that neighborhood.

2019-2020 price forecast...will adjust through season as needed
.... Basically these prices are very similar to last year and we will open the season with these numbers....NAFA difficulties going to cause somewhat of a ripple effect in country for all species but Coyotes, Coons and off color Cats the most by far. We are just not sure to what to expect...somehow an additional 100000 plus coyotes and 300000 plus Coons are going to have to find an end user out of the lower 48 through maybe 4 or five outlets. We will be watching harvest closely then adjusting up or down if need be later. We again have a large order for coyotes from all sections and will do everything we possibly can to own them...especially those in our travel circle as most if not all of our routes are layed out on the better sections. Again ....I am going to call our stance “cautiously aggressive”.
Don’t forget to take a youngster out with you and pass on your knowledge. Here’s hoping everyone has a safe, enjoyable and fulfilling fur harvesting season. Here we go again.

COYOTES
Carcass heavies.
Range. $0-90
Avg. $35-80
Grease/properly skinned...$3-5 more
Finished Properly heavies...
Range. $5-120
Avg. $55-100
Bad damage out at value
Normally found but not limited to...north of I 94 and or above 7000 ft. Heavies are found in different degrees throughout our travel area but are most prevalent I 90 even more so north of I 94.

Carcass semi +
Range $0-80
Avg. $30-70
Grease properly skinned add $3-5
Finished semi plus
Range $5-90
Avg. $45-80
Bad damage out at value

Carcass semis
Range $0-70
Avg. $25-60
Grease/properly skinned...add $3-5
Finished semis
Range $3-80
Avg. $35-70
Bad damage out at value
Normally found just about anywhere but most desirable are north of I 70 and west of 83 and 183...there are a good percentage heavies scattered throughout this section as well. 10-15% or so in northwest Kansas...percentage steadily goes up as you go north.

Carcass semi -
Range $0-50
Avg. $15-40
Grease/properly skinned...add $3-5
Finished semi -
Range $3-70
Avg. $30-60
Bad damage out at value
Normally found southwest Kansas, northwest Oklahoma, New Mexico, South east plains of Colorado and panhandle of Texas. Again most desirable west of 83. Believe it or not a few semi heavy plus and heavies pop up here as well.

Carcass commercial
Range $0-30
Avg. 15-25
Grease/properly skinned...add $3-5
Finished comm.
Range $3-50
Avg. $15-30
Bad damage out at value
Just about anywhere east of 81/I35 but more prevalent east of hiways 81 and I 35 and south of I 70. There are some decent colored semis that come out of this section and a limited number of heavies are present here but are almost always “ordinary” color.

Just generalizations always exceptions. Prices are subject to change as size of harvest becomes more clear.

CATS
Heavies $50-500
Semis+..$40-400
Semis...$30-300
Semi-..$20-200
Flats.....$10-100
Grade is tight ...know more later. Again, like last year there will be a very wide $ gap between B plus or better cats and C + or worse colored cats. Off colored specimens from any section will be very tough...in most cases less than $100...maybe a lot less....In flat or semi- sections they will be less than $30. NAFA difficulties are really going to play a part in cats...especially the off colors. Grade will be very tight and the bar will be set high as to what specimens grade “A”/ Select. Note...in the case of semi plus and heavy diamonds?...we will push as far as we dare to own them.

MARTEN
good color
xx semis...$15-25
xl semis....$10-20
L semis...$5-15
off colors will certainly be less.....average on a tolerable set should be in the $10-20 range. NAFA difficulty’s playing a big part on this item...presently they have a substantial inventory and will be looking to liquidate before long. Have orders for 50 or so well cared for carcass for taxidermy. Will pay about $25 for those.

WEASELS/ERMINES
must be on carcass....cared for accordingly....all for taxidermy
$2-6

ARMADILLOS
$2-4....cared for accordingly...all for taxidermy. Limited orders.

COONS
Carcass $0-10
Grease/properly skinned...add $2
Properly Finished $1-18
Grade is tight...if you are south of I 70 still a very tough item. Selective demand primarily with size. Focusing on buying bigger sizes and better colors. XXX and up Semi+ and Heavy Coon from better sections will certainly garner more attention. XXs are still a tough sell...XL and smaller are painful...probably won’t buy any xl or smaller on carcass especially from semi heavy and less sections...at least not on purpose. If we do buy these smaller specimens they will be very cheap.

Coons carcass
Heavy $0-10 (North of I 90)
Semi + $0-8 (I 80 to I 90)
Semis $0-6 (I 70 to I 80)
Semi - $0-4 (OK/KS boarder up to I 70)

Properly finished Coon
Heavy...$2-18
Semi +..$2-15
Semis...$2-12
Semi -..$2-9
Will adjust these prices as needed. I know I have a $2 bottom but there will be finished larges and smaller that will only bring a dollar or less....damage items will also fall below that two dollar mark.

FOX
Carcass heavies $6-12
Finished heavies $10-18

Carcass semis $4-8
Finished semis $7-11
Bad damage out at value

BADGER
Carcass heavies $20-40
Finished heavies $25-50

Carcass semis. $5-15
Finished semis $10-25

Carcass semi- $0-5
Finished semi- $1-8
NOTE: Please try to refrain from dispatching badgers with bullet to head....in the cases of these flatter early specimens the skull is the only thing with value....

BEAVER
carcass $1-10
If small or damaged $1-4 (hatters)
Finished Heavies $2-25
Finished semis. $1-20
Finished flats/hatter. $1-10

MINK $1-6

RATS
carcass $1-2
Rats finished $2.00-4.00
Top on finished rats...$5.00
(muskrats)

SKUNK
No carcass
Grease/properly skinned $1-3
If you skin and leave feet on we can give a couple dollars more...just skin part way down leg...cut off and leave leg bone in. Limited number.
Finished $2-5

Deer hides 1-2
Elkhides $5-10
Deer hide market still difficult...we will still trade gloves but in most cases will have to be at least two deer hides for a pair of gloves as opposed to a one for one trade as it’s been in the past. Tariff and tannery issues still a problem. Some of us will be carrying dollar bills if you’d rather go that route.

ELK IVORY
$5-35 per set
Avg...$10-20 per set
Really helpful if they are presented as sets
Note. When removing ivory take special care to preserve the root...that will also help you with price and will help us with resale.

Carcass Porcupines 1-10
average $3-5
(Don’t forget to bring whole porcupines with a feed sack)
We want to be able to look at them first...ran in to some instances last year where guard hair had already been plucked.
really small ones have very little value.
Guard hair. $5-25 oz.
Guard hair shorter than 6” has very little value.

Whitetail jack rabbits $2-3
No black tails off southern routes....ears to flimsy.
All are for taxidermy...must be taken care of accordingly.

Antler deer $1-12.00 per pound
Antler elk. $1-13 per pound
Antler moose same as deer except for really clean..then a little higher.
(Antler prices and grade breakdowns on first line of first page on “antler routes" link on website.) www.petskafur.net

Again going to attempt to buy skulls this season...need to be fresh frozen undamaged (not shot in head) and identified in a sealed see through freezer bag. Dried out skulls have very little value ...if any?
Cat...$3
Red Fox...$2
Kit Fox.$2
Grey Fox..$2
Badger...$3
Lrg. Beaver...$2
Sm. Beaver...50 cents
Coon...$1. (Probably need to be 25 lbs. or bigger)
Probably won’t need more than a thousand or so of these.
Skunk....50 cents
In both the beaver and Coon...? animals must be fully grown.
Otter...$3
Lion...$40-50
Bear...$15-20

Taxidermy items....always looking for quality....
Off colored coyotes
Odd colored anything for that matter
spotted skunks
ring tailed cats
swift fox...limited number no damage.
legally tagged bears and lions...need to have as much paper work as possible...especially on lions.
Wolves,Lions and bears need to be Taxidermy skinned
Wolves $50-250 buys most...$400 top
Lions...$50-500 buys most....$700 top
Bears....$30-70 buys most...$200-300 top
top paid for really big or really small

Near as I can tell for the most part routes are accurate and up to date with exception of central Montana. Find us at www.petskafur.net. Click on routes ...click on your state...find your town. Please take the time to also read “Fur Handling” link on the website. Important information on mild weather carcass care.

Green and it doesn't seem they really want them put up. If I don't get a better price than $30, then I may just tan them and sell them to crafters and such.
