We recently purchased an acreage. I have a small 4 wheeler i can get a blade for to push snow, but id rather blow it and get it out of the way. I still need to buy a mower and in thinking of spending the money on a used John Deere tractor mower coupled with a snowblower. Right now, a couple local places have the x530, one with a little over 300 hours for 3700 and the other with 140 hours for 4900. There is also an x720 nearby with around 450 hours for 5250. Id guess a blower will be a little more for the x700 series. Our place is a little under 3 acres with around 2 to mow, not a ton of trees. The driveway is around 100 ft long with an area probably 100 ft by 60 ft that also needs cleared. Looking for any input from anyone who has ran these machines or anything similar. Assuming the x500 series will suffice or would it be smarter to go to an x700? Any other brands you would recommend?

I have a JD 345. Its 20 hp with a 54" mower and a 46" blower. The unit is 22 years old and has been great. I have 3 acres, 150' drive. My neighbor has a small engine, marine shop and works on all brands. I asked him which brand he thinks is best and he said John Deere. So many of the other brands are stamped out junk, he said JD makes a quality tractor, with the only downside being price.

X2. There's other colors of tractors that are easier to fix.

Walker makes the best mowers hands down. I don't blow snow so I can't give you a good answer on the snow blower.

John Deere is probably ok as far as tractors go but we have a local dealership with absolutely horrible customer service. I like to buy air filters from a close by auto parts store so I don't have to support the jerks.

i have the x530 with a blower. I've had zero issues so far. ive only had it for 3 years maybe. It mows nice during the summer and throws snow nice during the winter. The one thing I would mention, is that the deck I have is NOT a mulching deck, and I havent checked into too much ,but according to the dealer its not as simple as putting a cover over the discharge hole. so if mulching is important, check into that before hand.

The model we had at work was all belt driven. The ground control shim belt kept braking. Ours had a cast iron axel but I bet they do not have today. JMO

Recently replaced a JD 318 I bought new (30/35? years) ago with a new JD x580. Use it for plowing and mowing. I wouldn't have done it if the 318 hadn't nicely filled the bill. It was just wore out and time for it to go. Our "orange" dealer isn't as good as our JD dealer. The dealer plays a role in such decisions.

I think the 500 series is a belt drive while the 700 series is a shaft drive. I would take shaft over belt any day. Also does the 500 have a diff lock ? It will come in handy with a blower on the front. 700 should have a diff lock.

I have a mid 90's 325. Mow about 4 acres twice a week. Blow a 250' drive all winter. It needs maintenance like all tractors do. But it works just fine. But not good in the heavy slushy snow.

If you're going JD make sure its shaft driven. Parts are also stupid expensive for anything green and yellow
