Have y'all heard anything about the catch being way off? And not because of the prices , obviously.

Was told the weather has put a hurting on the catch clear across the country.

Also heard that mange and distemper(in some areas) has put a hurting on the overall catch.

Any of y'all "heard" anything you feel is credible about the yore catch and market?

Crops in the fields still here soft ground in many places on top of that 6-8 inches of drifted snow in places.

We have had snow most of our season so far and I now guy who won't trap in snow so if catch is down that could be a huge factor. Fur is best I have seen in my areas in some time.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Last year I thought it was the weather here, but this year has made me rethink that. I’m thinking I have a distemper issue. Incidental coon are way down too. And finding sign locally has been tough. I did send a coon in that I caught doing adc from about 2 miles from my main trapping area that tested positive for distemper

Not in the areas I travel, Weather may be hurting the trappers but it’s still early. Lots of coyotes will be killed by callers, truck hunters and snow mobiles before is all over

Overall the state has a disease issue. Depending on exactly who I'm talking to its being linked to parvo, distemper and heartworm---supposedly testing evidence of all three. Some areas i don't notice much change but in other areas there is basically nothing. The big production years of '13-'16 in the southern zone seem to be behind us at least for awhile. I sure won't be stringing out across 150-175 miles in the near future

We have been having a lot of distemper in this area. Coon population is way down, and grey fox almost gone. Coyote catch declined three consecutive years but now seems to be on the rebound.

Like Law Dog stated, lots of corn still standing in the fields. Coyotes have everything they need in the fields and no reason to come out. I also think the numbers are way dow as I'm not findng much for sign. For what little I do find it could very well be the same songdog.

Fields and many prairie trails were way to wet to be driving on up until maybe a week or so ago here. Farmers really had a tough time getting crop off and lots of stuck combines throughout the state. Cant imagine the coyote harvest is very good. If the farmer cant even get in the field to farm, not many trappers were getting in either. Had the wettest fall on record here.

Yea I’m in southern Michigan just NE of Kalamazoo. Talked to some deer hunters today on a property I trap last season and they said this was the first deer season that they didn’t see any coyotes during

Guess I better move to trapping further East. Heard of some better numbers that way

Up here in Nova Scotia the numbers are down as well. Finally starting to see some sign and I’m thinking the season is not all lost. Foot holding them was a complete bust this year. Some good trappers around here are about 40% down in their catches.

just depends where. overall there are actually better numbers where you are and west vs most of the country east.

We have had outbreaks of both mange and distemper thru the years, but I believe the worst is the distemper. The first outbreak around here was in the mid 90's and while it did a number on everything it really hit our coons hard. They've never really recovered from it 25 years later.
