Braintanners, I have elk brain that I mixed up last night with sodium benzoate and salt, thinking that I would use it as a base for a bait. I just realized I should have kept it fresh without any SB or salt to use to tan a deer hide I have in the freezer. Is the brain mixture no longer any good for tanning purposes? If it's not good for tanning anymore, I will continue with my bait plans, but I wanted to ask some expert opinions first. Thanks for your responses, guys.

Not sure but my guess would be not good for braintainning anymore.

you can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out.

You can always use pig or sheep brains and they are much easier to find than cow brains. Some butcher shops might require you to buy a case (dz) but they are pretty cheap. You'll need a few for enough for an elk

Thanks guys. That's what I thought. No big deal really, just one use or the other. Also, thanks Adam for the pig/sheep brain idea... I like that idea, hadn't thought of that.
