My wife just informed me, after exchanging my batch of lifetime redhead wool socks that they are doing away with the warranty. Anyone else heard anything about this?

I thought it said bass pro SUCKS. I was getting ready to agree. Lol yea it doesn't surprise me. After they took over cabelas they did away with the lifetime warranty on most of there products. I used to spend a lot of money at cabelas and since the take over it has gotten worse everytime I go in there.

I remember goin to cabelas and every 12 feet there was some kind of awesome sale rack with stuff too good to pass up. Now, maybe every 50 feet, and not that great. Ahh the good old days.

Exchanging socks was 80-90% of my reason for going to bps. I’d invariably end up buying something I didn’t know I needed, but I agree cabelas was a lot better store before they got bought out. Scheels is probably the best around here now.

I don't fault you for taking advantage of a lifetime warranty the company is stupid enough to offer, but if the socks wear out after 6-12 months, maybe you should switch socks.

Let's say MTP offered a lifetime warranty on MB-650s. Returning worn out socks for new pairs would be like returning an MB-650 because the dog gets bent after a catch. That has got to be part of if not most of the reason BPS and Cabelas have stopped offering and honoring warranties for the most part.

I know there are other more extreme abuses of the lifetime warranty that invariably led to its demise. How many pairs of free socks do you figure you've gotten over the years by exchanging them once or twice a year? I guess that's why most warranties don't cover normal wear and tear, but manufacturer's defects. If you got new socks and there was a hole in the toe, you should get a new pair or a refund. Wear them a year and they get a little thin on the bottom or get a whole, buy yourself a new pair and quit your whining that a company sucks because they quit giving you free stuff.

Do you all think they will honor the warranty for seat covers?

Way off topic. But sleepy Creek traps offered a garrantee on their traps maybe that's why they are out of business.

Cabela's once had sock with a lifetime warranty. They were about all I wore, I loved them and it took a couple years of wearing them daily to wear them out, but I would take them back and get some new ones. Then they did away with the lifetime warranty. Now I'm back to buying socks!

A lot of those socks are made by Wigwam. I live about 30 minutes away from their factory and love to hit up their seconds sales. Cabelas ultimax socks are 2 bucks a pair most times. Sure, there might be some visual flaws and a loose thread here and there.

Took a pair of hip waters that was Cabela's brand that I purchased last year. They started getting a hole in them from wear so I returned them this last month, and they said they are done with lifetime warranties.

Not surprising the way some people abuse the warranties. I had an aunt that worked for Sears. She had some unbelievable stories.

All warantiees are based on people not bothering to take the item back or not keeping the receipt or printing the receipt with disappearing ink, any time the customers actually start returning stuff the warantee is void. No company stays in business by giving stuff away.
But yes BP does suck, living this close to the original store, I realized that many years ago. Good place to pay extra for China goods tho.

They are still ahead of Dicks sporting goods but if I can get something from F&T or Academy I do!
I also like Sportsmans Warehouse but there aren't any close by.

If you sell something with a lifetime warranty you should have to warranty the daggum thing period!

That's the lifetime of the product, not your lifetime!

I like the way Sheels operates, I bought a sheels branded pop up blind for antelope hunting and had it 2 or 3 years. Had a hunt and set it up near a water hole and the local range bull didn't like it at all ( no I wasn't in it at the time ) and broke all the poles in it. We have a store locally and I went and tried to order parts, they don't sell parts bring it back is what I was told. Not your issue but mine and just need parts , its covered they said. Brought it in no fuss at all they laughed about it and how I was lucky I wasn't in it or that the bull at least hadn't decided I was Cute or something. Handed me a new blind and said thank you for shopping with them. Great company to do business with and from what I've heard to work for.
