I am talking about using a pole or tree. Put a snare on each side. Snares halfway under water. Put castor lure up about. To catch the beaver circling the set. Could I use a 5 1/2 ft 5/8 rebar as the pole? Hang both snares off of? Thanks

Yes though I like to find a tree that has another close by or is near the bank or dam with a gap just big enough to fit the snare or 330.

I have caught a lot of beaver by doing just what you described. I select a large tree place at least 2 snares against that tree with a good dose of castor smeared on the tree.
I never tried placing a pole but It might work out. Since most of the time you can't find a tree to use.

I have used this and it works, I prefer a tree already there. Also, if It is a longer dam I will use the pole with one snare to the dam side with a limb with branches on the pond side and make a small break in the dam a couple feet on each side of the snare.

Yes, that set works with castor or food lure. loop 2/3 under 1/3 above. I only use one snare.

Thanks I would use a tree but it's a small lake/ big pond. Beavers has all the trees cut down. Not any in water. The beaver r body trap shy. The owner tried trapping them with 330s. I dont know if he set traps left safely on and caught a beaver. I made a hole in dam they will not fix it. But I take trap up then they fix it . Rebar only option for that set.

I wouldn't place a pole like that in open water up here and expect to find my beaver. Maybe a bigger, existing tree.
