Hey guys, I have a question for the experts. Is there any use or value in the glands in the neck/throat of a coyote. There is a pad about the size of a quarter and also a few smaller pea sized one in the same area. Is it worth it to collect these glands and maybe others like at the base of the ear. I dont personally use these glands, they are all sold. I just figured I'd check to see if there are more parts of the animal that I could be harvesting.

Thanks,
Houts

The primary glands that represents an animals specie odor are the anal ring and internal reproductive parts. Other gland cuts, certain fat deposits or pads will add to the overall volume of your gland collection process and will support the end result final odor. Each individual formulator has his or her own method and choice of glands that they prefer to use.

Sounds good guys, I appreciate the info. I think I'll start saving them and see if anyone is interested in them.

Thanks,
HOUTS

Houts-I also save the fatty foot pads, and the pea sized glands in the rear hams and arm pits. Heck, I even throw in the testicles, and the bladders from both male and female.

There is a really good tutorial, with pictures, in the archives.

I saved the liver from a couple of coyotes last year and aged them all summer. They definitely got a unique odor to them that did have a "coyote " smell to them. Havent really had a chance to do much testing with them but I did add some to regular coyote glands and a couple other ingredients and have caught a couple of coyotes on them. They make the regular glands a louder formulation. Did get a few pics of a pair of coyotes nosing were it put so out. Definitely have seen enough to play with it some more.
