Yep, just perfect for Fox. So is a MB 450 fox only better. I will stick with the real thing.
Wish I had more time to trap....

Again the idea is ,if you just have some old muskrat traps or what ever you use Duke 1.5's for you can pop in a pair of jaws and have you a little something nicer. And just so we're clear. I'm not saying go out and buy a bunch of Duke 1.5's take the jaws out and replace them. JUST SAYING

Next you're gonna tell me the MB 550 jaws fit right in the Duke... never mind. Not sure about the 550 but would really like to see what will take 650 jaws

Not sure about the 550 but would really like to see what will take 650 jaws That was my weak attempt at a joke about traps made by Duke that are knockoffs of the MB 550, but I dare not name the trap for fear of having the thread axed or being banished.

The Jaws that you took out of the 1 and 1/2 Duke would be perfect to laminate another one and a half Duke myself I've never felt the need to modify 1 and 1/2 Duke they are very good at holding onto Critters just the way they are

If want to reduce chewing and still hold almost all of your coon a double jaw modification works pretty good but wide rounded jaws have a tendancy to let SOME coon and otter slip out
I guess i should not of said that i had NEVER felt the need to modify a 1 1/2 duke in my previous post .

So just to break this down a little more . I know for a fact about every trapper has a couple of messed up 1.5's sitting around. They got ran over, coyote pulled a jaw out, messed up jaw from the factory somthing. You have em but can't use em. And you like the wider off set jaw but you don't wanna spend time welding and grinding to laminate and offset them or heck mabye you just plain can't, mabye you don't have a welder. And you dont wanna pay somone like me to do it. And you dont wanna go dropping $16 a pop for MB450's As long as the frame is in decent shape ( heck even if it's been bowed out a bit you can hammer it back into shape) you can for go allll the welding and extra grinding of laminating and just drop $5 for a pair of 450 jaws . Only modification you need to do is grind the jaw tips a little . So $5 for a basically free trap at this point ,you can have a dandy little dry land trap. And before we start the whole "and actual MB450 is" WE ARE NOT TRYING TO BUILD A CHEAPER MB 450. Just putting that out there. On a side note even if we bought traps for this you can buy used duke 1.5's on the trap shed for less than half price pretty frequently. Even if we went and bout some $3 or $4 old dukes from a tail gater at a convention or off the trap shed bought the jaws and heck even new springs we still have less money in one of these than in a MB450. And where gonna get about the same effect TO A DEGREE. Also about the only problem I've seen so far us the stock leavers on the duke don't want to ride completely up but seems like a little grinding will fix that.

I took note that the man said "broken dukes" and this was a way to repair them to usable condition. I missed that part . Im a fan of stock dukes for just pure production coon trapping . W ith futher thought I think this mod would be great for fox especially grey fox the beefed up jaws in combination with the lighter weight frame compared to the MB 450 should be excellent for the delicate feet of those little greys good spring strength and less overall weight .
