That looks good.

Perfect stuff for the cold, I can smell it. Looks really good!

Keep your boots dry and your powder too.

I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.

Best Regards,

JT

I do not mean any disrespect in this, but adding hamburger to soup makes me gag for all the grease involved. For the same price you can pick up beef soup bones or "oxtails". I am not that fond of them either as the tail meat is strong tasting.
The solution I have found is a Presto pressure cooker, 16 quart. I have picked these up used for under 5 dollars. What I do with them is process bones in them. Bones are full of high protein, and after the broth cools, the lard is broken off and you have a jelly that is meat. I use this as the base stock for everything I make. I usually end up with at least 2 gallons in each batch, and that makes two large pots of soup, pot pies, or whatever.

These cookers will turn tough meat into something which will fall off the bones. My first experience was with some dinosaur Canadian geese I shot. I slow cooked them 12 hours and they were still stuck to the bones. I put them 3 hours in a Presto and the meat came off the bones. That was an extreme case, but if you want fantastic soup. Fantastic for squirrel stew in the smaller models.
For all the beaver being thrown away in America now, that is a great deal of real food being wasted.

We did turkey soup last night using the carcass remnants from Thanksgiving dinner. One of my favorites.
