Although I don’t condone what these guys did, just by the sheer numbers of eagles they trafficked , shows how large the eagle population is today. Here in northern NY State they are as common a sight as a Blue Jay. Governor Cuomo bragged about picking up a bald eagle feather in the Adirondack Mountains and placing it on his mantle. No one is prosecuting him ????

Most of the endangered species have been supported by sportsmen efforts and protected by politics well past the projected goals.

Hmmm... God forbid anyone make a living selling animal parts and pieces. Who in their right mind would be OK with killing their national animal?

The Natives do not care that the eagle is some kind of national symbol of the colonizers,They revere the eagle as a link to the creator.This does not mean they cannot use animal clan dodem,but there are other restrictions.An Eagle feather to Native people is like the Christian bible to Christians.
I dont think non native people for the most part have any clue about Native spirituality.
We really never will because a lot of their ceremonies are only for native people and non natives are not welcomed nor allowed at certain spiritual ceremonies like the Sun Vow.I know Many young Native men(and women) that take part in the Sun vow.They have all the piercings visible on their bodys.

Montana should do the same, i'd shoot them and give'em to the tribes. They are hard on trapped critters and even harder on the snared ones.

My crack about the national animal was for some of the folks who take offense to the national animal being killed... Doesn't seem to bother you Canucks though... You guys whack and stack piles of beaver every year. Lol

I don't get too bent over eagles, or raptors in general. They're thick as flies here. No need to wipe them out but they're wild animals... They need managed like everything else.

And ironically, this site is full of folks who (occasionally) make a few bucks off animal parts.

Not too long ago Alaska had a bounty on eagles.
It's kind of funny how one day killing a particular kind of animal is the honorable thing to do; the next day it's considered immoral. Hmm.
I guess in the day and age we live, what is right one day is wrong on another, and what's wrong to do then becomes right; doesn't make sense to me.

They may look good at a distance and graceful in flight , but aren't they most carrion eater. See lots at the dumps.

If you read the old Outdoor Life magazine articles they had stories about culling eagles.

BS they take everything the government will give and bit h for more. When will the nonsense end?

I wish I had some eagle poachers here. Unfortunately, all I have is hundreds of salmon poachers.

Well if Franklin had his way, we'd be killing a lot of our national birds today.
