Saw some of this guy's videos - he's got it work'n!!!
How does he get his leather so white? Can't be frost scraping... not cold enough where he's at.

Shawnee, I have also wondered how he gets that nice white leather. I have heard him say he washes all his fur before fleshing maybe thats the key. Maybe Stu will chime in. Eric

I have watched his videos and he seems to be top notch in the put up game. Looking at his work and then mine i do not feel very competent Lol. I did take some furs to the local buyer last night and he didn't complain and said most looked good and showed me a few small things to work on. That was somewhat re-assuring but my goal is to catch up with Stu. I think that in this market the best way to keep my product marketable is to make it the best product available. I jus tdont see getting away with half Donkey'd put up furs anymore.

I don't know how you can make a blue coon white. I'm betting he Is only doing show and tell with super prime fur. I have some Dec caught coon that when dry are super white leathered. The other thing Is that a fresh skinned coon on a board will be very white but as It dries It will become less white.

He is surely using super prime fur but they are the same super prime furs I am working with I feel anyways and mine just aren't there yet. There are other guys i have seen flesh coon at that ability as well online and in person. Stu just happens to be very popular on YouTube and a lot of folks follow him and learn the put up process nuts and bolts from him.

He's using prime fur/leather. As my season goes on, I get some that are snow white. They look beautiful. But they still turn dark when they dry. Like Beav said, you won't make a blue (or slate) coon white. Coon Creek guy is a wealth of info and I appreciated his videos when I was learning.

Thanks for all the kind words. As for the hides no tricks here. While it is true that I only use prime fur for my videos, the camera really pronounces the white on the pelt. When filming indoors without alot of fancy lighting, the white balance on the camera really blows out the white on the pelt. As stated most prime pelts will dry to a more kaki color.

I watch all your videos as well and I am very appreciative of your detail and guidance. You do an awesome job putting up fur and instructing other how to do so. Thanks again.

I do as well. Just starting out myself, and YouTube has been a blessing, to say the least!
