How prophetic and I don't even know the word to use,since this is stated by Jesus and he rose from the dead. And some don't believe.

Definitely one of my favorite stories. Thanks Cleatus.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
(King James Version)
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.
(KJV)

1 John 5:13 From the Vulgate edition: "There is my message to you; be sure that you have eternal life, you who go on believing in the name of the Son of God."

My eyes were opened when I realized you can know you have eternal life by faith in the Son of God. I used to go to a church that preached good works. Good works are a result of faith, but faith comes first.

I can't pick one as my favorite. I love them all. The martyrdom of Stephen in Acts 7 chokes me up when I read it. Our Lord Jesus stood up at the right hand of the Father to honor his servant's witness as he was murdered.

On our deceased twin sons and wife and I's headstone is Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. Spiritual meaning, the cemetery is on top of a hill looking over miles of rolling hills, and we like The Sound of Music.

I've been thinking a lot about the story of Peter just after the crucifixion in John 21.

Quote
21 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. 8 The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards[a] off

I think Peter was a little lost after having followed for Jesus for three years, having his leader executed, being discredited, and then seeing the resurrected Lord appear. In his confusion and pain, at the end of his rope, lost and not knowing what to do, he finally decides to go fishing - back to his old life before this whole ordeal with Jesus ever started. He is stripped down for work, fishing all night. When John tells him "It is the Lord!", he puts on his clothes and throws himself into the sea.

I don't think his intention was to swim to Jesus. It would seem hard to swim with your outer garment on. I guess I'm speculating, but I truly think Peter, who once walked on the water, threw himself into the sea with no intention of coming back up. I don't know what happened from there, but the next thing we know, Peter is on the seashore cooking fresh fish with the Good Shepherd.

Whether Peter swam ashore to be with his Lord or whether he threw himself into the sea to hide his shame and end his sorrow, I love how Peter is such a man of action. He left his nets and went to follow Jesus. He got out of the boat to walk on the water. He drew and attacked with his sword to defend Jesus. He decided to go fishing. He threw himself into the sea.

I've often found that when life is too confusing, when I'm really sad and lost and at the end of my rope, the best thing to do is to go fishing. It seems the Good Shepherd often comes to me there and brings me to the seashore and feeds me with the nourishment I need.

So that's my story...

And here are some of my favorite verses from the chapter of Job 12:

Quote

7
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;

8
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you.

9
Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?

10
In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.

11
Does not the ear test words
as the tongue tastes food?

12
Is not wisdom found among the aged?
Does not long life bring understanding?

13
“To God belong wisdom and power;
counsel and understanding are his.

14
What he tears down cannot be rebuilt;
those he imprisons cannot be released.

15
If he holds back the waters, there is drought;
if he lets them loose, they devastate the land.

16
To him belong strength and insight;
both deceived and deceiver are his.

17
He leads rulers away stripped
and makes fools of judges.

18
He takes off the shackles put on by kings
and ties a loincloth around their waist.

19
He leads priests away stripped
and overthrows officials long established.

20
He silences the lips of trusted advisers
and takes away the discernment of elders.

21
He pours contempt on nobles
and disarms the mighty.

22
He reveals the deep things of darkness
and brings utter darkness into the light.

23
He makes nations great, and destroys them;
he enlarges nations, and disperses them.

24
He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason;
he makes them wander in a trackless waste.

25
They grope in darkness with no light;
he makes them stagger like drunkards.

What from Christ that soul can sever,
Bound by everlasting bands?
None shall take thee
From the Strength of Israel's hands.

This isn't from the bible, I carry it in my wallet for about 40 years now. Copied it when I saw the tomb of Franklin.

" The Body of B. Franklin, Printer
Like the cover of an old book,
Its contents torn out,
And stript of its lettering and
guilding, lies here, food for worms.
But the work shall not be lost,
For it will, as he believed,
appear once more.
In a new and more elegant edition.
Corrected and improved by its
author."

Judges 15:15 -19 Sampson killed 1000 Philistines with the jawbone of an (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman). Then he became very thirsty; so he cried out to the LORD and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant; and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?” Maybe one of the best prayers ever. It was answered immediately

This one was on my mind today.

3The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” 4But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
