I pulled my pipes and drilled a hole. Pretty sure my coyotes are scared of pipe lol. I was using 3/4” though so maybe thats the wrong size and they only like 1”???? Ask Mark Zagger i bet he has a solid answer to your question.

1" grey pvc conduit. Only leave about an inc to inch and a half sticking out of the ground. Needs to be semi hidden.

I have used 1/2 inch to 1 1/4 inch. Just because I am cheap and I had it around. I have caught on all and also have used white and grey both. Like was said earlier I hide it in a grass clump of small bush so doesn't matter color or size, it's how you place it that counts.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Someone once told me the gray is stronger than white. I don't know.

You're not the only one...I just can't get a coyote to hit them here on purpose. Have caught a couple in pvc-pipe sets with coon bait. Watched in the snow a year or two ago where even into a grass clump as designed the fox would work the pipe from the back every time and never come close to working the front...even with the wind correct. I'd be interested to see how many people other than Zagger catch more than 5 a year with it. Tried the screen and silage this year only to have deer try to eat the covering or the wind blow the screen clear open....gave it a week of messes and called it good again.

I think a 3/4" pipe is too small

1 inch id grey thats used for elec conduit. The white will break/ shatter. When i drive my pipe into a grass clump there about 3 or 4 inches above ground. Ill fluff up the grass a little to break up the outline.

Set works fine for me. I don't have a lot of sets out but I have taken 12 coyote, 11 red fox 12 bobcat 14 racoons and a hand full of possums. Like I said I don't have much of a line out. Just enough to give me an hour a day drive in the woods.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Set works fine. Left the auger in the truck last season and matched the personal best on coyote.

I would guess the guys having issues catching using the pipes were having issues with catching before trying the pipes.

Personally I like green pex pipe. Had 400 ft of it after changing lines to wood boiler. Sent a few to Mark and he sent a pic of it in an action shot.

I use it with or without a backing and notice no difference in catch rate.

May I suggest if the coyote or fox is working set from the back according to you that you check wind direction. Just because you choose to call it the front doesn't mean it is the true front for the critter. If wind switches put in 2 sets, one for each wind direction. Always play the wind, predator do when hunting.

Pipe dream remake from fox catch Saturday. Rock solid frozen ground. 3/4 inch pipe and still haven't put any new bait in it. Watched an otter playing in the water in and out on the ice while I reset it. I will take otter traps with me tomorrow.

3/4” or 1” grey conduit, makes little difference. Zagged uses 1” now only because he states it’s easier to put his bait into it.
