Tomahawker that is a nice looking dog, hunting buddy had a setter with the same pattern from a ND kennel, what Kennel is your dog out of ?
Good advise from Rally as usual.
Good to see he got to flush out his puppy's mouths with feathers this year again.
Some dogs work fine but have a time they flip and work for themselves, the Britiany that I worked would do this @ 15 minutes past sundown...and just GO on her own.
Solution; quit at sundown...and her looks at me; should have turned me to stone
Rally you better change springers name to "cash pit"

Great picture and hunt. I have pheasants at the ranch and never have hunted them there. I have let others hunt them but I have never harvested one. I see my license is good through Jan. 1st, so I might knock the dust off of the shotgun and get a couple for a few meals. If I can hit one. LOL

John,
They are all cash pits. I’m reminded of that every two weeks when I buy dog food! Taking them all to the vet is akin to paying the national debt. Then one of them comes and rests their head on your lap and melts me with their big brown eyes. Worked for Connie 43 years ago too!

Not sure if you can zoom in or not but just wanting her hunting smart just like I try to do. If you can kill 3 birds and walk one mile why walk 5.

I really miss my dad when talking about dogs. Can they point and find birds? Those are the two main things that can't be taught. If you can keep them in wild birds, they will learn not to get so close. They would really like to catch them but a point is like a big hesitation before a grab. You don't have to say anything to them either. Do you remember being a kid trying to sneak up on a frog? That one big hesitation before the grab. Good dogs have a lot of point in them. As they mature, they will become very careful about getting too close. And they won't mind if they are birdy. Be nice.

I've been running a Garmin Alpha and would feel lost without it.

It is what it is.

I sure have missed some quail on a picture-perfect point. I'm not perfect and my baby too, gets a little excited sometimes. She has brought me some birds I didn't know I hit though. Quite a girl.
