I agree - mustard on hot dogs and ketchup on hamburgers. No one in my house is allowed to put ketchup on hot dogs or eggs when I'm here.

Okay Boco I give up, What is a "western".
And Scott, sorry to correct you but you never want to mix mustard and Ketchup. The compound created by mixing the two is extremely toxic, or so I've been told; plus the tastes clash.

If I could only choose one it would be mustard on hot dogs and ketchup on hamburgers. I like both on both sometimes but I never have just mustard on a hamburger.

Mustard or ketchup - hot dogs or hamburger which ever you had when I was a kid. You weren't choosy. Horse radish on pork of all kinds except fried ham. Mayo was made the day of the get together and if any left was given to the hogs. When we went to the country folks in the summer they still had, wood burning stove, ice box, pump in the kitchen and a well in the yard and an outside toilet. About 1951, they got electricity and had refrigerator. Had a smoke house, the hams hung in all year round. Wanted ham... you went out and sliced off what you needed and left the rest hanging there. Still remember the red-eye gravy... it was great eating, but after … Oh never mind …. I can hardly stand Mayo today, got sick on it once at about age 4... all I allow in my house is Miracle Whip... buy by the gallon.
It is strange of the things you were exposed to as a kid that you continue to carry on through life.
BUT you got to love the Good Old Days. Kids today don't know what they are missing, in most cases.

Hot Dog's and thick sliced Bologna are GREAT on the grill with BBQ sauce, and a dab of Mustard with Catsup is good on fries.
